Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 This is a desperate panic move, but I can not honestly disagree with it. We need Lawrie immensely, offensively, defensively, and for his energy and intensity on the field.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 is he going on a rehab assignment? wtf weren't they saying before that EE had a better chance of coming back first or was EE's set back that bad? He was on rehab this past weekend for Dunedin. He had 5 hits and a walk in 3 games.
Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 is he going on a rehab assignment? wtf weren't they saying before that EE had a better chance of coming back first or was EE's set back that bad? Lawrie has been on a rehab assignment but I think it has only been 2 days? EE still felt something when he swung so they shut him down again. last info on Lind and EE from Aug 1st HOUSTON -- Edwin Encarnacion and Adam Lind continue to show signs of progression in their recovery from injuries, but the Blue Jays still aren't sure when to expect them back in the lineup. Both players have been out since early July, but neither has a set timeline for their return. Lind has been participating in simulated games at the club's Minor League complex in Dunedin, Fla., while Encarnacion has been limited to taking swings. Lind would appear to be the closest to returning and while his first games could come at designated hitter, the Blue Jays also want to make sure he's ready to play some first base. "Lind is moving along really quick," manager John Gibbons said. "I would think he'll start a rehab here pretty soon too. I would think maybe next weekend." Encarnacion appears to be a little further behind after a minor setback last week. He'll eventually progress to simulated games and will then require at least a relatively brief rehab assignment before returning.
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 This move might be cited as the very definition of "Desperation Move" or "Transaction of Desperation." Coming up losing 3/4 to a team like the Astros where offense fell asleep, particularly against lefties, and a few defensive mishaps on the left side, back comes Lawrie. Hopefully he'll only need a game or two to get his timing back, and won't be a horrible spot of offense but they're heading into a series against a first place team, while being 3.5 games back after that laugher of a series, I guess they're doing everything to try and win a few games.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Author Posted August 4, 2014 Sure Lawrie has had multiple hits in a handful of games, but this is a guy who has been out 1-2 months with very limited AB.
Caper Verified Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 It's always about getting him enough AB's. Why can't an organization, just take 5 pitchers and give him 50 or 60 ab's in a day?
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Well atleast hes an upgrade defensively. Well if they play him 3B which they probably won't. I expected him back for this series though. Lawrie would be a defensive improvement at any infield position. Reyes hasn't made a dive and cup up with the play since last April. Goins might have better footwork around the bag, but Lawrie has better range, better reaction and a better arm.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 He was pretty much ready to go after those games in Dunedin. I don't call it desperation. The corresponding move will either be Kawasaki or Goins to AAA or a DFA of Steve Tolleson (more likely Kawasaki to AAA)
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 this is the part where we option kawasaki and go on a 10 game losing streak
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 this is the part where we option kawasaki and go on a 10 game losing streak We'll see. Remember, I also said Goins to AAA is an option too.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Good to see the boys enjoy themselves during an off day. (from Stro's twitter) ----- I hope they take it slow with Lawrie the first few days. There are other options and we can't afford a re-aggravation.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 White jeans? I thought I couldn't hate Reyes anymore.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 White jeans? I thought I couldn't hate Reyes anymore. I like Reyes, although I'd trade him off for nothing but salary relief at this point....and this point is totally invalid towards anything but is it just me or does he set your gaydar off?
