jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Depends on how the rotation lines up at the end of year. It's not like we'll get to choose any of the 5. Hypothetically though - Stroman.

True - if you're fighting for a wild card spot insteading of coasting to a division title with a nice buffer, it means you don't have the luxury of setting up your rotation Given my choice of any guy on normal rest, it's a tough call and I LOVE Stroman but I'd go Buerhle

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 A lot would depend on how Stroman finishes the season. If he's not showing any signs of fatigue, I would definitely go with him. Buehrle always keeps you in the game but in a game like this, you want someone who can keep the opponent right off the board.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Of course I only made this thread from the question coming up on the FAN this morning Let's beat the Yankees first offense has been better the since the jays got their ass handed too them on monday. have to hope it holds. reinforcements coming soon. Ed, Lind and Lawrie back over the next weeks. just have to stay close and win series. then maybe they can go on a run in late august.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 If the standings ended the way they are today we'd need both. One to face the Yankees in a playoff to secure the right to have a one game wild card playoff game. Man that would be intense if it ever came to that and they won both
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Right now our best pitcher is clearly Stroman.

Yep We need games against Baltimore with our full lineup in effect Division or bust, motherf***ers!
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2014 Author Posted July 25, 2014 August 5, 6, 7 home vs Baltimore Lind and EE back for then seems a given Lawrie? Prob not
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Depends on how the season finishes and how much rest people have. MB has playoff experience and would less likely to be rattled in a important game.... Stroman has looked like our best pitcher.... So it really depends.
CHRIS Verified Member Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Stroman. Playoff pressure? Stroman don't care about playoff pressure.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2014 Author Posted July 25, 2014 If they started Dickey I don't know what I'd do. I honestly don't think I could watch while the Angels were batting

Prob not I would think lawrie will be in games by next week. He shouldn't need more than 3 or 4 games of rehab. Baltimore should be a realistic target for lawrie.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2014 Author Posted July 25, 2014 If everyone was equally rested, ole Gibb would go with Dickey for same reason he started season opener. Thankfully everyone won't be rested for a wildcard game and Dickface might not be an option. I honestly don't think he'd use RAD in this situation if he could use MB or Stroman Game 1 of the regular season is about ceremony and respect That wildcard game is about winning at all costs and he won't give a s*** about hurting Dickey's feelings or anything like that. He'd use MB or Stroman in a heartbeat if he could. Plus Hutch may look better by then too and be an option. No way he uses Dickey or Happ unless he had no choice. Like Gibby himself says "I might be dumb but I ain't stupid"

shortstop Verified Member Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 that's the crazy thing with Dickey...I could watch only b/c the guy literally is 50/50 out there and could turn in a great performance... btw, love Stro show as a nickname...I heard his I/v after the game last night & he talked about how he's now throwing a sinker and he just kinda learned it/added to his repertoire and i'm thinking, holy hayzeus, who is this guy?!

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2014 Author Posted July 25, 2014 Honestly, what 23 year old rookie will just decide to start using a new pitch he just learned after 2 month in the bigs. Dude has balls the size of watermelons.

You can't say easily for sure. If the last game of the regular season is a win and in the wild card we have to win that first, what if Stro is only on 2 days rest it would be irresponsible to do that to a rookie. There is a lot of factors that go into it so you can't say Stroman Easily. Things don't always work out that perfectly.
shortstop Verified Member Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 seriously and Gibbons was gushing about his competitiveness... baseball gods/blue jays...protect that arm please!
