Convo Verified Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Jose Bautista Hoping for some good news this morning and then have a big announcement to make this afternoon #StayTuned What the hell. This makes me nervous. Is he just referring to his injury status? Edit: Nevermind, it's just HR derby related and whether he'll be in the line-up or not tomorrow.
Convo Verified Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 When is Lawrie expected back? Anyone?
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 The first part is likely his injury status. The big announcement part likely isn't big at all. Probably a new sponsorhip he's pimping or something equally inane he's being paid to hype up on Twitter.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Anyone? 3 weeks is the best id assume....2 more recovery and 1 week of rehab starts in minors
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 (edited) More importantly, it negated the possiblility of a retroactive DL stint for Bautista. Not worth it IMO. (Admiteddly, that's easier to say knowing that he didn't come through.) I thought they should've DL'ed him right away. Remember, Reyes took a few days off at the end of ST only to reinjure the hammy on OD and missed 2 weeks. Rasmus had a few days off when he first injured his hammy, came back for a few games and then ended up missing a month. We'll see what happens. Edited June 30, 2014 by ElNik2013

JFD Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Uh, Bautista is a vastly, vastly superior hitter to Navarro. It's that simple. Even a Bautista that hasn't faced live pitching in a week, I'd probably want him up there over any Jays hitter except Edwin. Navarro could've easily come up with a big hit like he usually does then we still have Bautista available to pinch hit for one of the scrubs.

Bautista RE24: +140.76 runs above average Navarro RE24: -90 Better hitters do better in clutch situations. Who'da thunk it.

Navarro can handle the bat so there is no reason to pinch hit for him in that situation, especially since he's been hot with the bat lately. then you would have Bautista available to pinch hit for one of the many scrubs.

I guess what you're saying is that Bautista pinch hitting for one of the other scrubs provides a larger upgrade than him pinch hitting for Navarro who the manager thought was good enough to bat #4 in his lineup.
