The San Francisco Giants and Toronto Blue Jays are among the teams who have done preliminary homework on Murphy, asking around for opinions on him, according to major league sources. Toronto had a scout in Miami this weekend; a possible coincidence, but still. Murphy -- who hit a three-run homer in the Mets’ 11-5 win over Miami, is batting .298, and has 92 hits -- would make sense for both contenders. The Giants are trying rookie Joe Panik at second, after Mets castoff Brandon Hicks sunk way below the Mendoza Line. And the Blue Jays are understaffed at the position, using Munenori Kawasaki and Steve Tolleson. This is an interesting name to pop-up. I think he'd make the perfect #2 hitter so we can move Melky down into the 5 spot.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Want But Mets will want more of our pitching prospects and we already gave them our best one
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Would they want Francisco? Pillar? Relievers? Any package that doesn't include Sanchez or Stroman might be liveable.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 lol Yeah I know Do you have a GIF of someone throwing s*** against a wall? LOL
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I shouldn't have asked that because he probably does. Hahahaha.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 This feels like one of those situations where the Jays are inevitably linked and nothing comes of it. Probably a good thing.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I would support this. Still on the right side of 30. Mets have been talking about moving him since the offseason. Makes a lot of sense. Plus they owe us from the last trade.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 That trade has not worked out for them one bit so far. But it has the potential too. That's why we should make another trade with them before Snydergaard and TDA bust.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 What the actual f***, fake or not why would you post that? Why would he not post that...

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 (edited) Honestly though, would it take two top 10 prospects to get Murphy? Or would one plus a B prospect or a couple of non-essential major leaguers do the trick? This isn't Dustin Pedroia or J Profar. He's a 29 year old ~ 2 WAR second baseman who is having a better than average season. Edited June 23, 2014 by G-Snarls
kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Probably a good thing. Can you imagine him playing 2nd on our turf! Guy is a very bad defensive player who,s best position would be DH or 1st and we don't need that.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 He would be a nice addition, but what lands him? Pompey + McGuire? If AA trades Pompey, I'll hunt his fat ass down myself.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 That trade has not worked out for them one bit so far. It saved them 12m on an old mediocre innings eater.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 As far as Murphy goes, I hate trading for players having career years or at peak value. He's also controllable for only 1 more year so I'd pass thank you very much.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 We don't have enough in the system to handle 2B and pitching. I'd rather improve the pitching. In order to afford both, we'd have to sacrifice MLB talent, which means Gose ends up going to the Mets + others
