MrMariusz Verified Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Please, a BB, PLEASE. Need to get a hit or a walk here... dont throw away that pretty 2-0 count against a 110 pitches in pitcher...
kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Kratz is gone no matter what. need to bring up Gose and Pillar most likely. Yep I agree. As Edwin hits a bomb! How bad does that unearned run look now. Dickey has been beat up on this board but he pitched a quality start and in one of the best hitters parks in baseball that is pretty good . We are an unearned run away from being in a tie against the best pitcher in baseball .

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 The debate is whether or not having an injured team is better for AA than missing the playoffs with a healthy team. And I'm saying because he's much better off being a PR GM than having injuries are great for AA. why can't you understand that. I'm not saying that having injuries are good for the team, that would be stupid. As for the Jays being a .500 team...I base that on me being smarter than everyone else. Seriously I've said this since last October....I said this when they were 40-30 why the hell would I change my tune now? Whether it's fact or not it's my opinion...which is often like fact (sans Travis Snider's MVP awards and Johnny Cueto's 2014 success) And, again, what justification is there for the claim that he would miss the playoffs with a healthy team? What proof is there that this roster, if all 100% healthy, would miss the playoffs? You keep asking me why I can't understand that, I can't understand it because it's complete and utter rubbish. "I base that on me being smarter than everyone else"; "Whether it's fact or not it's my opinion"... right, so we're back to what I've been saying all along: that you have absolutely no real justification or basis for your claims. All you have is blind bias from which you're drawing an absolute conclusion, which, with all due respect, is very much irrelevant. the 40 man roster is s***. there is no depth whatsoever. as soon as inevitable injuries start the team has absolutely nothing to come with. we are already playing with the back up's back up. Normal health was never going to be enough. they need to be blessed by the pope, a voodoo witch and the karma police every day to have a shot. This post says nothing, because Hurl disagrees with you. You can't use injuries as an "excuse". He believes that this team IF COMPLETELY HEALTHY is a .500 or below team. You saying that they aren't prepared for injury does nothing to aid his argument, because he thinks they're bad without injuries. If you want to stick up for Hurl's argument (if you can even call it that), you need to tell us why this team is bad even when all 40 men are healthy.
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 that's because the sky is falling. No, it's not. This 74-win team is just playing to its true talent level.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 the 40 man roster is s***. there is no depth whatsoever. as soon as inevitable injuries start the team has absolutely nothing to come with. we are already playing with the back up's back up. Normal health was never going to be enough. they need to be blessed by the pope, a voodoo witch and the karma police every day to have a shot. they barely have a rotation this major league acceptable. right now they have no back up outfielders and haven't had a second baseman all year. AA didn't address any of the problems in the off season. he got rid of one bad catcher and brought in one that is just as bad defensively and only marginally better offensively. he didn't make any moves to give depth or a better starter and this is where we are. this team might run hot at times, but it's not good enough to make the post season and needs to be upgraded. Kratz was acquired. Francisco has contributed since he was called up after Lind went to the DL. SP was not addressed, but they did have a deal with Santana. Too bad those Braves pitchers got injured, but s*** happens. Gose and Pillar contributed with Rasmus out. 2B is still a big issue, but with Francisco at 3B and Lawrie at 2B against RHP and Tolleson against LHP, it hasn't been as big an issue. I do agree that infield depth is a big problem. Carrying 3 catchers and no backup OF is certainly a problem. They need to give Kratz a chance to catch Dickey and send down Thole. Or just send down Kratz.
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 I say its the curse of Geddy Lee...Didnt he throw out the first pitch last year? If so we all know how that turnt out. During the Cardinals series i see Geddy sitting behind the plate and i said to my wife that our hot start will come to an end tonight and sure enuf its been down hill from there on!

So being a .500 team keeps you in the race and there is still time to fill holes. This is where my bias hits...I don't trust AA to make the right moves.
MrMariusz Verified Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Eh... whats the game plan here? Dickey going for a complete game?

Ten teams make the playoffs. There are NOT ten teams out there that have zero holes. This team is very much capable of making the playoffs if everyone is healthy (and yes, that means a healthy Morrow in the rotation), and anyone with a lick of sense will agree with me. And no the Jays don't need three bench players.

I'm not sure I want him trading away what's left of the farm for a hail marry. the options out there are going to be more than I would want to pay at this point.

Are the Orioles, Yanks, Red Sox or Rays in better shape? How about the other teams in the WC race, are they that much better? And if you know that it's not good enough, why even follow it? I think some of you don't realize how close so many teams are to each other. Anyway...

This is evident once ANYONE gets hurt. there are warm bodies on the bench and that is not good enough. Health is a constant flux during 162 game season. Gibbons cant rest key players because he has nothing but s*** AAAA players on the bench. sure they'd do in a pinch, but they are going to get way too many AB during the course of the season. team is not good enough.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Just joined game and heard news on Lawrie (brutal! he has been so solid) and biting my nails over Jose MRI...and we are down today going up against NYY. I know it wasn't the bunt, but I hate bunts with our # 3 hitter. Not exactly my relaxing Sunday aft news... Lets hope the guys can win this one and those who fill in can do the job ok. Not liking the thought of Juan against any LHP. Tenuous time in the season for us. Things not going our way much right now.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Ladies and gentlemen, Lawrie's replacement Juan Francisco. against lefties if Bautista is hurt...this could be an ugly lineup. Especially if Gose gets the call. Haven't looked who they face but it shouldn't be a big deal against the Yanks
