I swear every time we get someone back we lose someone that same day. I'm happy we are not losing everyone at the same time, it's just funny timing.

Mastroianni being sent down may signal that Gose could be staying after Rasmus is reactivated from the 30-day DL. I guess they'll send down Jenkins or DL Cecil to make room for Rasmus, but we'll see.

That was my thoughts as well.

Gose is a useful 4th OF. Ive given up on the fact that he's ever going to hit well enough to be an above average CF. He's still useful though.

I wouldn't be too upset with either Mastro or Pillar against LHP though, we'll have to wait and see how they deal handle this on Monday or Tuesday.

You know what I meant. They didn't have to "reinstate" him yet. Was he throwing strikes again to warrant this "reinstatement"? If you haven't already noticed, we're in a pennant race, and we can't just have a guy come in and walk the ball park in a close game. I hope they use him in low leverage spots, AT LEAST INITIALLY.

I'm sure that's the plan. No reason to bump McGowan from his role until Sergio can show he's back to strike throwing.

Side note, I doubt he would be reinstated right now if Cecil hadn't tweaked his groin.

Santos is our best reliever and should be immediately inserted into the closer role. Case closed.

I can see why you want Santos as closer because if you wanted to judge who has the best stuff, it's has to be down to Santos and Delabar.

Your prototypical late inning RP/closer who throws a beast of a fastball and a killer/wipe out slider-type pitch. Very nice fast and hard breaking pitch.

And I've been a huge Casey Janssen fan ever since he first came up with the Jays, but I myself am not 100% comfortable with a control pitcher as closer.

But Santos really can't find the strike zone, and Janssen has been incredibly efficient since becoming a closer. One of those cases where this situation calls to go against the grain and give the soft tossing control pitcher the closer's role.

Sergio Santos activated for today’s #BlueJays game. No corresponding move announced yet. Could be Cecil to DL.

Even with his current control problems I still think he has value in potential high leverage situations. Men in scoring less than two outs in a one or two batter type role when the defense does not want balls in play. Start there, build up his confidence in his control one or two batters at a time.

If he implodes then damage will be minimal.
