I dunno, guy seems to post quite a bit over there, and someone else who posts quite a bit said he saw it too.

There's another thread in the baseball sub about it, and Cardinal fans admit he's a douche.

I was there early and saw BP but I didn't see this. I did see Jason Motte fake-throw a ball to fans before returning it to the infield. He later went out of his way to give a ball to an adult Cards fan (surrounded by kids in Jays shirts).
