Get the f***ing job done. I don't care if the OPS is .700 or .900. And if it's .700 it's a more efficient way of doing the same job.

 

Lind probably is playing for himself figuring he can get a shiny new contract from a sabr-gm.

Stats don't lead to runs, rbis lead to runs. It is impossible to get an rbi without producing a run. Literally. If the score is 0-0 nobody has an rbi,.

 

Take last nights game. Reyes tripled leading off thus padding his OPS but no runs were scored.

 

Lind is even worse because for him the triple would be a double.

 

THIS MAKES NO SENSE TO ME. Lind, unless sandwiched in #4 doesn't get as many chances to drive in runs and he was on the DL and he sits against most LHP. He is doing everything asked of him and is huge value. Joe Carter? I could have had 100 RBIS batting 4th on those Jays teams. Lifetime OPS .771....over rated. Says it all (but thanks for hitting us that one in 93).

no doubt. monster number with RISP. Says it all. I think coming out of 09 expectations from some were so high, and 10, 11,12 weren't great years for him. Some people have tagged him with "rally killer" and its stuck. The reality is 2013 and 14 his production in leveraged situations are great. Not to mention we aren't paying him a boatload.

Though in the stated situation (runners on 1st and 3rd), a single is MUCH better than a walk or HBP and an XBH better still. So, I want a hit. Especially if the are 2 out.

The approach that goes with that is an RBI skill. The hitter that went for an upper deck homer would have poor skills.
