"Lucky" = Francisco, Thole, Lind, Melky, even Bautista (overall), Edwin (during the streak).

And the fact that Rogers Centre is being pumped full of helium (the offense is woefully mediocre when not playing at home).

Bautista twice had season with an .OPS higher than when he's sitting now. EE posted a .941 and .904 OPS in his last 2 season. His .918 OPS he is currently posting doesn't seem that lucky. Melky posted a .809 and .906 OPS when he was 26 and 27 breaking out as a player. His .855 OPS is just slightly above what I expected a healthy Melky to produce. Lindy posted a .856 OPS last year. I said coming into this year he would be better. He's currently been a lot better, but he's also missed over 3 weeks of games, which was not lucky. Francisco has been lucky for sure, but he's got legit power and I expect him to post an ops north of .800. Thole has been running hot, but also only has 50 at bats.

Sure are the Jays running hot and over performing a bit. When the cool off to their norms they are still going to be a potent offense.

The only usual thing t me is that they're a hitting well at once. only Thole and Francisco seems like they're playing truly over their heads.

Really??? How did you arrive at that?

Before May 1st:

Home - RS,62 RA, 64

Away - RS,60 RA, 60

May 1st - May 28th

Home - RS,84 RA, 66

Away - RS,62 RA, 42

Total:

Home - RS,146 RA, 130

Away - RS,122 RA, 102

Run differential:

Home: +24

Away: +28

And same winning record if that makes a difference 16-11

Just curious as to what you were looking at to make that statement.

I didn't read the whole article after reading some of the comments. He cites Thole's hot hitting as one reason they won't continue to play well, after that I stopped reading.

Thole has one of the smallest roles on the team. lol glad he's what's wrong.

That writer brings up some good points but he only mentions the rest of the AL East in passing. That right now might be the biggest reason we contend. For all of our warts, all of the other teams have just as many and we have a leg up on all of them a 1/3 of the way through the season.

agreed there is not a team in the East that I would actually trust to make a run. I still think 86 is the number to chase...which is sad but still very possible.

86 is just a little too low, IMO. There's always at least one team who seems to end up with 89-90+. But all of the teams do seem to have glaring weaknesses, so I'd meet you halfway and say that 88 wins could possibly get the Jays to the top of the East this season.

Fair enough, will be an interesting division in the trade market. First to make a move likely ups the trade market for all the league.

The same thing that I posted yesterday (don't know if rankings changed in a night) ... that the Jays are 8th in the AL in Runs/Game in Away games.

Your breakdown is nonsensical. Run differential is inconsequential to the question of offense alone.

Thanks for sharing your wisdom and your comment. As you may not be aware, I am trying to learn this stuff so I may put forward silly thoughts from time to time.

Now, if you can share your thought process it would be a lot nicer. Part of your statement was "offense is woefully mediocre when not playing at home.

I asked where you came up with that expecting a link or something similar (you know, like civilized people might do) so I could enlighten my mind however you chose a different path to handle this. Sooooooo, if you feel like sharing your vast knowledge with someone less inclined please let me know which elements highlights this woefully mediocre offense you speak of? What figures/stats did you use to come up with that position? Where can I find the "AL rankings in Runs/Game in Away games and Home games". Is it posted here or anywhere else - a link would be more informational? If I knew where it was I would not be asking - I would love to read it.

We're the only team in the ALE with a positive run differential, +32. The Yankees are second at -7.

If you could get Lee or Shark in a package including ONE pitching prospect one non-pitching prospect besides Gose and one of either Lind or Francisco I'd do that in a second. Teams would likely prefer Lind due to MLB track record.

Ug - taking on that monster salary on top of Reyes' monster salary and Buerles monster salary makes me nauseous. On top of that we give up Lind (who I think is totally underrated) and two senior prospects (if that's what you are proposing?) is a large cost. Gets us $Lee$...a true #1, albeit aging and arguably in regression.

That's called going all in...more. Looks great if we make playoffs and provides a lasting hurt if we don't. (unless the arm and bat flame out).

Let's take this step by step, since the information I provided is accessible at virtually every baseball-related site which provides basic stat rundowns ... from where did you derive your information regarding Toronto's runs scored, runs allowed, and the splits by date and by location?

Why do you even want to know where I got my information from if it was nonsensical? Anyway, I will still tell you - it was done manually using the information provided from the schedules link.

By the way, wouldn't it have been less obnoxious of you if you simply provided the link to where you got the information rather than saying "virtually every baseball-related site which provides basic stat rundowns"? From your attitude I can see you are one of those insensitive, "I am smarter than you" types so don't bother replying.

You can't play the "you're mean" card if you, yourself, are spouting snark and vitriol. So, grow up and realize that I'm trying to walk you through the process, using your current knowledge as a jumping off point (which is more effective in teaching than simply saying "here!"). Teach a man to fish and all that.

I have no idea to what you're referring when you speak of a "schedules link."

Ok. We cannot seem to communicate or even get on to the same page. You asked me where I got my information from so I told you where and how. You said let's take it step by step however after 3 replies you have still not provided a link.

Baseball is not my life so please forget the "Teach a man to fish and all that." philosophy crap. If you make a statement without having something to back it up someone most probably will ask call you for clarification or a source. If the information is legitimate (or even if it is not but you show where you got it) that's fine however playing a cloak and dagger game does not come across as helping other to grow. If you feel this is your personal playground that's fine with me too - I know how to deal with that also.

Lol, first time you've encountered this sperglord?

Don't lower yourself any further, Father, before he casts you in a cringe-worthy screenplay as some bizarre insult(?)

Thanks. I was holding out one more time for a proper response before inviting him to a special room where I have two other mis-guided individuals. The frustration to get the information outweighs the benefit of possibly learning something new. For all I care they could all hold hands in the "Ignore" room and chant "Kumbya" for the next few months or so.

You're really hard to help.

Much as you got your information from the "schedules link," I got mine from a stats link. So, yay for us.

Wow, last attempt at this. Sorry I thought you would know where to find the Jays schedule sol here it is:

http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/schedule/index.jsp?c_id=tor#y=2014&m=5&calendar=DEFAULT

You can see the results by month and also determine whether it is a home or away game.

So, just to sum what has transpired here ...

Holy crap, you have a personality disorder. You're an ass.

It'd be funny if it wasn't so sad. Please put me on ignore.

You are welcome.

Thanks for the long reply and actually providing a link. Since I have a personality disorder and I am an ass according to you I will act accordingly. I really don't have time or energy for this sort of thing. Please join my friends in the other room. ;)
