f*** I wish I was there. A complementary replica jersey is an outrageous deal.

I wonder how the finances of it work out for the Blue Jays. They don't get the revenue from sold merchandise anyway, so if they're making money on this event it makes a lot of sense.

They should have done this promo on a Wednesday night against the Astro's or something.

Getting 50,000 instead of 30,000 AND having them all there 2 hours earlier must make a ton of money. Just the food/water/beer/pop alone would be huge from all the extra time in there.

How come they don't let people into the game earlier for giveaway days? Something to do with regulations/permits? One would think opening up the doors earlier would also mean more merchandise/concession stand sales too.

Rogers should do more giveaways, brings in way more profit than they spend on the giveaways... would be nice if they wernt so cheap and at least handed out 30k+

I don't know, man. 20k free jersey's is pretty generous.

Jerseys probably have one of the highest markups. Doesn't just have to be jerseys, the bobble heads and other cheaper giveaways too.

That's the thing I hate about going to giveaway days. Especially for something like a free jersey, you likely have to go wait in line at 9:30 and spend like 2-3 hrs before the game at the Rogers Centre. They definitely get you then to buy expensive food/drinks...so it's a good marketing ploy.

Sometimes what I have done, is if I have a really good seat in the 100 level, I'll also buy a 500 level seat and use that ticket to go early to the stadium and then walk out and head to a bar for some beers and lunch.

He'll likely already be wasted by that time by downing 8 long island iced teas on the GO from Oshawa.

Meet him at the GO then.

Yeah. Another thing i have done is just buy a 500 level ticket - go in and get the bobble head/jersey whatever and then walk out and watch the game at a bar.

While it's probably not all 20k, some of the replicas may be dated inventory that they may have written off anyway. Smart way to get more fans there...

It cost them pennies on the dollar to give those things away and they more than make up for it when the stadium is packed like it will be today. To be quite honest, they probably should do this a few more times a year.

Plus, the way it has worked out with the team in 1st place, it could pay off with people wanting to buy tickets for future games, especially if they win although with Happ pitching, it's not very likely.

I feel like they are catching on a bit with more giveaways this year than in the past. Now they have to work on the content...those straw hats are ridiculous

A win for the sellout crowd and sweeping the first place team would be huge today. I think a win today would grab the city's attention.

You guys wouldn't believe the kind of fights are arguements these jerseys cost. They should have done more than 20k.

Most were probably stolen by the crack staff
