Yep. Only problem with that is that Happ is still in the rotation. Give em to the Rangers, we could get a non prospect or two back and save some money.

I hate it when we promote our top prospects when they may not be ready, they struggle a bit then send them back down. It must be a huge confidence killer for the player.

"The thought when we called him up was that he could give us a boost late in the game," he added but, "now with McGowan back and with Janssen back we have definitely discussed potentially either putting him in the rotation in Toronto, or having him come back here and start and be stretched out and available".

This is cute. Happ has a longer rope than people think he does. Its a very long rope.

 

 

Well, it's pretty clear Happ will be in the rotation for a while. The spot that Stroman will hopefully take will be the one vacated by McGowan.

It's going to be embarrassing if the team misses the playoffs by a game and Stroman only gets 5-10 starts for them. What a waste.

 

 

Not really, it'll be reason to celebrate....a new lifetime contract for Beeston and AA.

LOL So they called him up without even considering the possibility of McGowan going to the pen? Janssen was obviously going to be back soon when the decision was made as well.

 

I would like to think that a FO would run through all possible scenarios when making personnel moves. It's like they just do stuff..... and then react when something happens.

I think several posters called it a panic move at the time in reference to the blown leads by the bullpen against Pittsburgh which is who they were playing at the time.

 

 

I said at the time, if they wanted to call up a late-inning reliever, call up Stilson who's being developed as a closer.

Way to treat your top pitching prospect, bury him in the BP and tell him you trust more a 25 year old with a career ERA over 6.

 

#HDMH though, so the StroShow won't be denied...even by a dumb GM/manager.

If the Jays had waited until June to call him up, how would that have affected arbitration? Would you not have been eligible for arbitration until 2017 instead of 2016?
