eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 As someone else has said: drastically change the delivery in the hope that something can stick. Sidearm... anything.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Someone mentioned last year that after they altered his mechanics, he reverted to the old style pretty quickly. My question is, does an employee like Romero not have an obligation to pitch the way they tell him to? If he insists on keeping his throwing motion, let him walk away from his contract and try that s*** in another org. IIRC, it wasn't a major change, but he gave up on it. I think it had to do with the way he landed, they felt it would put less strain on his wonky knee and improve his command. I suspect RR has a bit of the same problem as JPA which is to say he doesn't want to look in the mirror and admit that he sucks and needs to look for improvement. There's no downside for either him or the organization only upside. Hopefully, they try to alter his mechanics.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 "Romero has knee issues apparently." Um, that's not exactly true. He just brings up his knee as a thing but says they shouldn't make an impact. The knees aren't his problem. He never really got lefties out so we can't really even turn him into a LOOGY.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Must be nice to get paid millions of dollars to suck at your job.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 No, he really doesn't. Guaranteed contracts leave very little wiggle room. We're stuck. The only thing that I could see happening is us eating the entire contract and dealing him to an NL org, for his sake. Give him a change of scenery and a new coaching staff. I'm sure the Jays would be overjoyed to have him succeed on some NL team. I'd be ok with this if RR reworked his contract. Maybe cut the last year in half? Won't happen, but if this was to be done for his sake, like you suggest, he had better contribute some $. Gotta give something to get something back. If not, let him rot in ExST
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 LoL Buffalo doesn't want him anymore. And we all know how important it is to win in Buffalo! Will get stuck in Utah next time if we don't get our s*** together. Good point, I've thought about this with all the roster moves. Same thing happened last year, Buffalo was doing well and then half the roster was called up to Toronto. Anyway...
