While I agree that these players aren't the 'best' options, it reflects the acquisition cost of a goalie in the regular season. A back-up goalies value is inflated because they are scarce. Me for example, if Price goes down and I only have Neuvirth, a backup himself, I'm pretty much punting all the goalie cats every week. At least I have a shot if I have 2 backup keepers. I know its going to cost me way more in season to get even a back-up goalie and they will likely mostly be gone by the time I pick next.

 

I would have loved to grab a forward in this spot, but the alternative is opening myself up to crazy risk by not having another keeper.

So what was determined for non-drafted international FA's that will be debuting with their clubs this year? When are they eligible to be picked up?

 

The only thing I can find in the rules doc is;

"Unowned prospects that have not played in the NHL cannot be added to NHL rosters on Yahoo. If such players are called up in real life, then they can be added in Yahoo as soon as a news source confirms that they have been called up by their parent club."
