Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Question: Do you actually know what my stance on this team is? Don't bother man. Seriously, all these dipshits complain about how the "stat nerds" attack people, which is the exact opposite of what I see. This guy received a contradictory argument and immediately got hostile. You getting into it with him just gives these morons more fuel.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2014 Author Posted April 5, 2014 Finally. I got an essay to write
HASHTAGYOLOSWAG Verified Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Not even a fun team to watch. Just roll over after the third inning.
theblujay Verified Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Great effort shown today by the squad! Great season ahead of guys, all we need now is some sweet, sweet luck
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2014 Author Posted April 5, 2014 Go away What's your problem?
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Question: Do you actually know what my stance on this team is? I simply disagree that the eye test is superior in this case. I feel like we could have a much better argument in a different situation in which I was less tired so I'll agree to disagree. Does that mean you would think Rasmus was a bad fielder if you didn't have statistics to reference? I've always been pleased with his routes and actions. I think he's above average, but not great.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Not sure how you can say that when Diaz is producing just as well? I hope that's sarcasm....
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Had an opprortunity to go to the Raptors game for free tonight but of course I turned it down because it's Opening Night. TERRIBLE DECISION.
theblujay Verified Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 No chance any of our outfielders makes the catch Gardiner just did

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Go away You still think JPA is gonna be a star?
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Probably one of the most boring games I've ever watched. Terrible. Like I almost fell asleep. is the riot still on?
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2014 Author Posted April 5, 2014 Had an opprortunity to go to the Raptors game for free tonight but of course I turned it down because it's Opening Night. TERRIBLE DECISION. Ouch lol that sucks
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 UZR is accurate if you use it properly. It tells you how many runs a player has saved in a season, compared to the average defender at their position. Like any counting stat, it's not necessarily predictive (representative of the player's true talent). We don't complain that wRC isn't predictive, why complain that UZR isn't. Colby Rasmus posted an 11.2 UZR last year. He saved the team over a win on defense, compared to the average centrefielder. But there's no guarantee he'll continue to be exceptional of defense, just as him posting a 130 wRC+ last year doesn't solely guarantee he'll continue to rake on offense.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 And we're morons because we disagree? Go back to your La La land where everyone who disagrees with you is shunned. Grow up. No, you're a moron because you have the reading comprehension of a 10 year old.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 is the riot still on? Dude I can't riot when I can barely keep my eyes open. First inning took like over an hour to play.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Had an opprortunity to go to the Raptors game for free tonight but of course I turned it down because it's Opening Night. TERRIBLE DECISION. Are you inciting a riot today? Or was that if they lost both games? We clearly needed more board members there tonight.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 No chance any of our outfielders makes the catch Gardiner just did Smart, compare our outfielders to one of the best in baseball, way to keep adding on to the argument.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Imagine taking a non-baseball fan to that game to introduce the game to them. Some of the most dull, uninteresting s*** I've ever watched in my life.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 And we're morons because we disagree? Go back to your La La land where everyone who disagrees with you is shunned. Grow up. What is it exactly that you disagree about? I'm not seeing much in the way of discussion points from you, only personal attacks.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 It's interesting that some posters would rather be fans of other teams, some keep whining that they should watch basketball instead and so forth. Just freaking do it guys, go root for your other team, go watch your basketball and spare us the whining, I think we have enough whining as it is...lol.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 What are you guys arguing about
theblujay Verified Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 You still think JPA is gonna be a star? I'm still a Jays fan, IDK about you
GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 LOL! No I don't. Don't mean to come off as a prick. Just frustrated. You're probably a really cool dude. We just happen to disagree on a topic. We're all frustrated. I'm of the opinion that we're a very average team, probably around 81 wins, and not very good on a huge payroll. I'm on your side here in the bigger picture, it's just that I strongly disagree with some of this. Lol You f***ed up your quote Does that mean you would think Rasmus was a bad fielder if you didn't have statistics to reference? I've always been pleased with his routes and actions. I think he's above average, but not great. If I didn't have statistics I would reconsider my stance to reflect the best available information I had, which I think you're implying would be the eye test in that case. I feel that that would likely result in my liking of Rasmus in CF quite a lot as I do like how he looks out there regardless of the stats. He makes some catches that make me go wow.
