G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 LOL yep, and the story is actually a but funny - "You know we just thought having three catchers on our active roster wasn't enough and rolling with a team that is composed of 16% catchers is a little more efficient. All the backstops bring something different to the table so the team has additional flexibility going forward. Dioner Navarro can catch, but can't hit. Josh Thole can kind of catch, but definitely can't hit. Erik Kratz can catch a little bit and hit moderately well considering his home run yesterday and no one knows what A.J. Jimenez can do so we'll just play it by ear I guess."

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I really didn't want to make a big deal out of Reyes playing in Montreal but this is a pretty damning quote: “It wasn’t 100 per cent at all, when I was hitting in the box I was obviously thinking about running. I said in my mind, base hit, fly ball – I don’t know how I’m going to run fast.” It doesn't sound like the decision should have been left to Reyes at all. He should have been on the DL. I guess Reyes and the team go too caught up in the idea of Reyes starting the season healthy. I think that had more to do with it than a marketing decision. I can pretty much guarantee that not as single ticket in Montreal was purchased because of Jose Reyes. It was predominantly an Expos crowd with surprisingly little knowledge about current baseball players. The only player who was getting recognition from the crowd was Bautista. All the other Toronto plate appearances were treated the same by the crowd. No special recognition for Reyes or even Edwin. GSnarls can confirm this. When we met during the game, we talked about how it really wasn't a Blue Jays crowd at all. Most people just wanted to pretend they were watching the Expos.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 Obviously should have been on DL cause now those games cost us more days if he's OK after a week too Sounds like this is possibly more Reyes' fault himself than AA's or Gibby's Dammit

Totally true, it was odd and very striking (Still very glad I went to games, and good to meet you in person BTW)
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 (Still very glad I went to games, and good to meet you in person BTW) Any excuse to go to Montreal is a good excuse. I had a great time at the games (the first one was especially great) and in the city. The only thing that sucked was the trip back. Had to dig out the car out in Montreal. Drove through crap weather in a rental with no winter tires and got stuck in the snow twice in Fredericton, once in my driveway when I unloaded the car and then again trying to bring it back to the rental place. I'm really sore from all the shovelling and pushing.

It's April and there's even more snow today than yesterday. There's more snow today than at any point in the winter.

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 All things considered. It is not a terrible looking lineup 1-7
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 All things considered. It is not a terrible looking lineup 1-7 Rasmus in the two spot against Cobb makes sense.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Anddddd Diaz is playing. 2nd career ever start.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Pretty much the lineup I expected. At least the infield defense will be strong, as Goins and Diaz are plus defenders.. any offense will be a bonus.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Jays want the defense of Diaz over Kawasaki. We can't afford lousy defense like last year, when we were playing Bonizturis at 2B..
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 If they are actually going to start the replacement everyday, why isn't it Kawasaki? Question has already been asked a million times. Mind blowing.
