Take a peek at Dickey's numbers in the second half.....it fluctuates but he pitched very well, it's one game fellas.

 

LOL, one game. He pitched well in the second half last year when it didn't matter anymore. If he gets off to a poor start and Buerhle gets off to a slow start again.......these "ONE" games matter. He was a .500 pitcher last year with an ERA well over 4. I don't think his numbers will be any better this year than last. Oh wait! Can't say that or lest be told to go play in traffic! LOOOOL

The two trades last year will haunt this organization for years.I'd take Alvarez and Syndergaard right now over Dickey,Buerle and Reyes...never mind Hech,Nicollino,D'Arnaud.AA did such a great job getting these players and then give them up for this f***ing mess.

He played in a massive park against lesser competition? Citi Field was an extreme pitchers park a few years ago.

 

It's like how average relievers go to San Diego and all of a sudden put up sub 2 ERAs.

 

That can account for some of it I'm sure. But I watched him pitch several times with the Mets and loads of hitters weren't even making ANY solid contact off of him. He's getting hit a LOT harder and his walk totals are a lot higher as well. A pitchers park can help a guys ERA for sure, but when a guy is getting hit hard on a regular basis after coming off a full season where guys were baffled by him is a bit different.

Alex took a chance at the win now game and lost. I gotta admit that i thought at the time that they would do great. Signing Dickey and bring in an innings eater like Buerhle. Bringing in Johnson who had a career ERA of about 3.2 and bringing in /Reyes who has shown he can be a game changer. So far almost ALL of those moves have backfired in a major way.

 

At least he tried and the team finally loosened the purse strings for the first time in a long time. It just sucks that the fallout was as bad as it was.

This was always going to be a tough game, and series. For me the game to look forward to is always the home opener. Today is more about the return of baseball in general.

AA has talked about retooling the farm lately. Which makes no sense, because there was no need to gut it in the first place considering all the crap he got for what he traded. But, this team also doesn't have any crazy Pujols like contracts. We just have to hope AA is not dumb enough to continue trading for old vets that have 0 value after they come here.
