GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 It might already be my favourite board meme ever. If it doesn't get overused it'll certainly be mine. Kalfus was okay until 49 and the bots started doing it and posting it in the main forum.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Weren't there rumours a couple months ago about Cruz asking for like 100 M? It would be fun to start trolling players on Twitter for s*** like this and hashtag it from this forum

Despite being genuinely funny at first, the despair meme has already become so frequent that it's becoming despairing --> MetaDespairing
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 I'd be ok with not extending Rasmus if he starts hot and someone wants to buy high. I like him a lot, but it's eerie how similar he was to 2010 with the bat last year: 2010: .276/.361/.498 (130 wRC+) with a BABIP of .354 2013: .276/.338/.501 (130 wRC+) with a BABIP of .356 His periphs however aren't as nice (11.8/27.7 in '10, 8.1/29.5 in '13,) his value on the bases eroded, and he also put up two pretty damn bad seasons in between there (while suffering from a bad BABIP.) If we want to pay him as the average of those 4 years fine, but I'd be cautious about paying him as a 4-5 win player going forward.. Yeah I think this is his ceiling. And he seems legitimately prone to half-season long hitting slumps. As I mentioned above I'd value him somewhere between his 2 good years and 2 mediocre ones. If he signs now for something you're happy with, great. If he won't then trade mid season or QO/draft pick, whichever you think gets you more value in return. If we knew Gose was good to go, then trading Rasmus last year would have made more sense. These two have NOT made it easy to know what to do with them I'll tell ya.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 My god, I love that Cruz got a little over half of his QO and less than 10% of his original demands. What a dumb prick, how about you put a little thought into how much you're worth. Also, LOL @ RIPEXPOS aka JPArencibia#1Fanboy aka RomeroFan preferring Cruz to healthy Melky Cabrera.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 He'll then spend all offseason despairing Gardner and Aoki before giving the CF job to Gose and LF to Sierra. Man would it be sweet if he DID land Gardner and Aoki though. Perfect fits imo. He's going to have to address outfield somehow next year, because I can't see him actually running with Gose AND Sierra.
