Um yeah it is.....its like the ASG balloting where each teams PA announcer encourages hometown fans to vote for the hometown players on the ballot.

 

It's the ASG or Face of MLB voting isn't it? If I wanna see a collection of all-stars play a game, it sure ain't gonna be some of the f***ing losers on the Jays or other teams who don't deserve votes. Kinda like how Bautista isn't, never has been, and over a lengthy period of time isn't remotely close to being the Face of MLB.

The ASG is meant for fans. Not just the people who discuss advanced baseball theory on FanGraphs and message boards, but ALL fans, even the so-called "dumb" ones. If they want to vote "stupid" then let them. They are paying customers. It's not like politics where democracy of the dumb and/or unaware actually matters. It's the f***ing All-Star Game. Another reason why I support the "at least one player per team rule". If you're a fan of a team on pace to lose 105 games that year, your mediocre star's appearance at the ASG might be the highlight of your s***** season. Don't take that away from them.

In fairness, the MLB is the worst sport for these kinds of contests. There just isn't a singular figure atop the league like a LeBron James, Peyton "Choker" Manning, or Sidney Crosby. That's why guys like Bautista and Eric freaking Sogard are still in contention.

Actually, Mike Trout is pretty comfortably the best player in the game. For some reason, he won't get the recognition like LeBron, probably because there are a lot more areas to shine in baseball.
