o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I said what can go worse (than last year) not what can go wrong lol. Last year was a huge disaster. Going from people and Vegas telling us we're #1 in the East to dead last hate to tell you, but it can get a lot uglier... I really hope it doesn't in some ways, but if another abysmal year means the Jays get a better CEO and GM, I might be willing to put up with it....
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Rasmus can go back to 2012 and 2011 levels of production. Lind can turn back into the pumpkin he was for years prior to last year. Bautista can continue breaking down EE can tick down in performance a bit from last year, as is quite possible. Or his wrist can continue to bother him and he can miss time or substantially tick down. Lawrie can continue to be the crazed maniac who is frequently injured and unable to develop. Goins/Izturis can suck. Again. Melky can prove that his utter suckitude had nothing to do with his tumor. Navarro can go back to pre-2013 levels. Reyes can have a drop off, when healthy, and may not stay healthy playing on turf. Dickey could finally miss time since he's had a substantial injury in each of the last 3 years but pitched through it. Buehrle could finally miss some time or take the plunge in performance. Morrow could continue to be Morrow. There is no depth for the rotation. Except for AAA. The flaky bullpen could have a substantial downturn in performance. Virtually no shot. Realistic. Why is it realistic to expect the worst case scenarios on every player? I agree with everything you said about each situation as being possible, but there's also the other side of the each coin. In no way am I sitting here saying every situation will be the best case, but To think that every single thing that you mentioned will happen is just blind pessimism without a base in reality.

At this point I don't mind a firesale and starting with scratch with a new GM and CEO. Hell fire all the personnel and keep Gibby lol. I don't mind putting up with a crap team for 5 more years if it means we get to build a dynasty.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Sees that the Jays signed Carroll to a minor league deal. Gets ready to rant. Notices it's Brett Carroll instead of Jamey Carroll, looks up Brett Carroll. Wishes it was Jamey Carroll instead while sobbing softly.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 That's a LOT of people watching Marcus Stroman VERY closely
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 I'm increasingly of the opinion that he's going to make the rotation. He's marketable, and the team needs marketable. Maybe even have him throw the home opener. I don't agree with it, because there isn't room on the 25-man without losing a useful player, but I'm kind of expecting it to happen. Jose Fernandez 2013

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I'll admit I'm beyond excited to see him pitch in the bigs. But that probably shouldn't happen until mid season at the earliest.
