that would be suicide....given the salary escalation you can't trade a guy who's on that contract bringing that production....I'd rather overpay for one of the three starters out there than trade 3 years of EE for 2 years of Price....filling one hole and creating another will not get the jays where they need to be...

Given the current state of the farm, that wouldn't be such a big deal. Sadly though I don't think the Rays want the farm, they wan't EE and they just might get him.

The Jays' payroll is $135 million with apparent potential to go up towards $150. That they have chosen to waste assets via trade rather than target quality free agents doesn't reflect poorly on baseball's economic system. It reflects poorly on management. Reyes and Buehrle cost almost $50 million more than the total investment in Yu Darvish. And they have up good assets for them.

Im still ok with the moves made last year. The part thats pissing me off is that the team wasn't willing to back it up this year nor tear it down. So now we go into a year with a very strong AL East again with little hope and no real future........ I need a drink.
