GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/new-rogers-deal-launches-mlb-network-in-canada/ MLB Network launches Jan. 7, marking the first time the network is available in Canada. The 24-hour channel features year-round programming including live games, news, highlights, and some of the game’s top analysts, including former Blue Jays players Mark DeRosa, Al Leiter, Kevin Millar and Dan Plesac. The channel will be available to Rogers digital TV customers in Ontario on channel 415, and will be available in a free preview today through the end of April.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 No dice for Shaw Direct customers yet - My response from Shaw: "We do have some space open on our 3rd satellite in order to add on new channels. We have been getting a lot of requests about the MLB channel lately, so hopefully we will be adding this channel in the future."
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Digital Cable... Why not? Because it costs a crapload, nobody watches more than five or six channels and non-live shows are posted online anyway? Cable just doesn't make sense these days.
RickyWalks Verified Member Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Speaking of cable. Is there a current way to get around MLB.tv's blackouts up here for Jays other than registering with a US address and using a proxy?

I was told that so far it is just an eastern thing, but they have already had lots of requests in the west for Shaw customers.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Mediahint worked for me on Chrome. I didn't even need to use anything, it was the weirdest thing. I had Mediahint but didn't end up using it lol. But if I was blocked it seems Mediahint would've worked and it's free. You should definitely get MLB.TV RickyWalks, one of the best purchases I've ever made. Who needs cable when you can watch all the baseball you want for $100 a year. And in HD with all-platform support.
RickyWalks Verified Member Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Right on. Have to give it a go then.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 I have cable strictly cause of jays games. I wish it was easy to watch them online.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Does anyone know if Bell is going to carry this?
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Thanks for the heads up!

I used unblock-us since I use Netflix a lot and I can switch regions on the fly and never had issues watching any games live. Oh, yeah and I use the PS3 for everything. Just changed the settings on my router and I don't get blocked on any platform using my WiFi connection.

SAAviour Verified Member Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 It's incredibly easy. Can u explain unblock us to me real quick? And a quick question for those who have mlb.tv....when u watch the game after the fact, does it mark all the scoring plays and when they're going yo happen. I record 90% of the games I watch and it would drive me crazy to see alerts of when the next scoring play is. I recall seeing mlb.tv once and I'm certain it does this. Thanks in advance!
SAAviour Verified Member Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Just googled un block us. Seems simple. Google is amazing.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 You have to dumb this down for me, you get American Netflix, etc doing this on the PS3? f***, I'm missing out meat, help a dumn old fekker out?? From what I have figured out, u pay $5 a month and sign up, it then changes your IP address to any region you choose. Ie the US so u can watch blacked out games...but I could be way wrong.
vdartanian Verified Member Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Don't need unblock-us or any other software to get US Netflix on PS3. I have a Netflix subscription; just changed the DNS codes in PS3 (look at network settings) and voila it automatically routes to US version of Netflix Updated DNS codes can be found here...at least according to by 14-yr old daughter. Would imagine this may work for MLB-TV as well, but have yet to try it http://www.netflixfixer.com/2013/06/updated-dns-codes-for-us-netflix.html
Rotator Verified Member Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 You can also watch Jays games on line with Rogers anyplace tv if you use rogers for anything else like internet/cable whatever. I also have MLB.tv and was never blocked watching jays games on it this year for some reason. excited to check out this new channel during these boring winter days.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Will we have to subscribe/pay for this channel? Or will it automatically be included with Digital Subscribers?
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 sites like unblock us are a waste of money, just use Hola

Not to mention there's a lot of people outside of cities who have internet not capable of streaming a lot of stuff (especially at a high quality).
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Looks like Rogers is also preparing to launch a Netflix / Hulu type service: http://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/rogers-readying-hulu-streaming-compete-netflix-report-210842457.html
