TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 18, 2019 Posted May 18, 2019 The Women's Champions League Final is on. Lyon is about to win their 4th straight title over Barca this time (they went up 4-0 in the first 30 minutes). It is a neutral site (Budapest) and there are 22,000 fans there. The average salaries on the two teams are 166,000 euros for Lyon and 100,000 for Barcelona. It's similar for basketball in Europe too. I was part of a Professional Women's hockey panel recently and the ideas are just insanely repeated. The Euro model can't work for women's sports in North America (sports just aren't branded the same way. example we have Toronto Maple Leafs & Toronto Raptors whereas in Europe all the soccer, hockey and basketball clubs work under the same brand with an incredible amount of saved administrative and marketing costs. Plus Europe's set up works so much better for a domestic to National to continental formula). I just think a single sport hybrid could somewhat work, at least for hockey. Anyway it was a better played game than most Women's World Cup games. I honestly don't mind watching women's sports at most levels and I think it can work in North America
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2019 Posted May 18, 2019 6-0 to secure the treble.... what a season for Man City!
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2019 Posted May 18, 2019 So Man City only need a left back in the summer. Best case they get Alex Sandro from Juventus for £50 odd million. Worst case = Danny Rose to reunite with Kyle Walker. I think Liverpool need a new midfielder (though Oxlade Chamberlain being fit will help) and a few squad players (fullbacks and a forward if Sturridge leaves) to challenge again.

Dayummm If you're going to post the link rather than actually embedding it, you might as well point it to the actual time (this forum software doesn't seem to allow the embedded video to skip): Also, I miss watching him play for Vancouver so much.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2019 Posted May 19, 2019 Alex Sandro is average now. I'm a Juve fan. I think he’d be good in England, but yeah he hasn’t shown the form of 2 years ago. Juventus will definitely be willing to let him go now and they keep getting linked to Marcelo (to reunite with Ronaldo). Your team is another squad of superstars, I wonder if you can get Pogba back?
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 Champions League final today - Harry Kane returning from injury to start his first game for Spurs for 2 months. Semi final hattrick hero Lucas Moura will likely come on for him at some point - apparently it's really hot in Madrid today so can't see Kane lasting the full game.

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 How long are these international games? Netherlands are up 2-1 and it says they are still playing at min 107?
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 3-1. They are playing in min 119 now. I really don't understand this game other than which team will win each match.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 How long are these international games? Netherlands are up 2-1 and it says they are still playing at min 107? 1-1 at full time so they play 30 minutes of extra time (in two 15 minute halves).
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 We were rubbish today, it's been a long season and the players looked tired.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 1-1 at full time so they play 30 minutes of extra time (in two 15 minute halves). Thanks!

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 The TSN panel is tearing team USA apart for celebrating all of the goals. And I think I agree, there's nothing wrong with continuing to score and keep competing but celebrating after it's already a ridiculous blowout is pretty classless and shows poor sportsmanship.

The whole "canada would never do that" narrative the night after Toronto cheered after KD getting hurt is just lol.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 Blowouts suck, but celebrating when you score is fine no matter the score. I suppose I should watch the video first cause if they are running up into the crowd and doing choreographed dances with the crowd...that's a bit much.
