At least he has a strategy, compared to some other managers which don't.

Yeah, I guess. I just don't think it's ever going to lead to a playoff berth unless he bites the bullet and trades for vets to fill holes. The young guys are nice, but you also have huge risk of attrition. Guys like Profar and Machado may not be top-10 guys are their position going forward.

You almost have to make a concerted effort to f*** it up. It will be interesting to see how the Blue Jays try to ruin 2015.

Do they go the "make absolutely no improvements or investments" route, like they did with success in 2014?

Or, do they go down the "track team / my priorities are so out of whack it's hilarious" road that helped them get such a nice, high draft pick after 2013?

Call me a stupid homer, but I actually kind of like the roster mix Toronto will have going into 2015.

Yes, there are some bad contracts and the payroll constraints will probably prevent any real improvements. But, there is a mix of bankable veterans and exciting, high upside youngsters that I don't really ever remember seeing from a Blue Jays team.

They have a lineup anchored by two top ten hitters in baseball (2015 Steamer wOBA) and the 3rd best SS in the game according to Steamer, and it's a lineup that incorporates a pair of high end young players that could explode in any given season (Lawrie and Pompey).

The rotation is carried by a pair of veteran arms that seem like virtual locks for 200 IP and league average production, and those two are followed (or in the case of Stroman, lead) by four young arms with a crazy amount of talent.

That's a lot of players that almost any team in baseball would want, and aside from them, there are solid contributors in the fold like Navarro, Lind, Cecil, Loup, Happ... and a few not terrible bench pieces.

It will be a marvel of terrible roster construction if Anthopoulos and friends can manage to miss the playoffs for a third straight year with a core that promising.

As long as AA has the budget going forward to add the couple of pieces he needs. To me it would be crazy to move Sanchez and Norris . While i disagree that this is a weak farm a lot of the talent is just getting to full season ball so to move the two who are very close and the only rotation depth we have would be stupid. As this roster ages it will be the Norris,s and Pompeys who keep us viable

I'm looking forward to a full season of Stroman, and I expect Hutch to improve in 2015 as well. Along with Dickey and MB, who might not be aces, though at least they are durable and can provide 200 + quality innings. Happ looks like a solid No. 5 starter, and with Sanchez and Norris in the wings, the rotation has a lot of depth. Likely MB and Happ are gone after 2015, so the Jays will need to fill two rotation spots, so hopefully Sanchez and Norris are those two and pan out. The Jays have a young, cheap and controllable rotation moving forward which is a plus. I feel more comfortable signing a big FA bat to a 5-year contract over a big FA pitcher.

EE and Bautista are two elite bats - and I'm sure not many teams have 3-4 hitters like Bautista and EE. Reyes can be better, no doubt. And if Lawrie stays healthy, he'll provide value. And who knows if Pompey explodes? I don't mind Gose in CF since he provides a lot of value with his defense.

And like you said, there are solid contributors in the fold like Lind, Cecil, Happ, Loup etc - if the Jays add more solid contributors, at second or third base, in left field, in the bullpen and strengthen their bench with guys who can hit and have versatility, then 2015 doesn't look all that bad. It's a solid roster mix they have.

I'm not convinced Hutch is going to be better than a #4. He had his struggles in 2014 and after his first full year through the league, hitters will fare better against him in 2015. His stuff is not overpowering and he will succeed when his command is on, but often is not. Stroman has dynamite stuff, not concerned about him at all.

SP worries more than RP for 2015. Cannot expect the same good health, and real risk of a drop in results from those not named Stroman and Sanchez.

I wonder if he'll be remembered in a Ricciardi-esque light if he f***s up the Edwin/Bautista gifts from the baseball gods.

New DDL feud!

Oddly the only things that piss me off in Fantasy Ball are people who try to exploit rules that compromise the integrity of the league. (Grant)

And people who comment on other managers teams, players or moves. You manage your team and I'll manage mine. And if you don't like the way I'm running my team then kick me out of the league.

And if you think I'm getting taken in all my trades then try and take advantage yourself instead of yapping off.

I don't think it's unfair to point out that the strategy that that you seem 100% sure should be employed by major league teams has been a disaster for you in the dynasty league you're in.

I thought dynasty leagues were for the long haul?

That's a solid young core he has, better than some other teams in the DDL. I'm sure Chris moves Harrison in the offseason and adds more young pieces to that talented group.

Wrong. I'm gonna wait till he's like 38'ish around Vogelsong's age and pray to god some idiot will up a draft pick for him.

My god.

Half the fun of leagues like this is commenting on what other people are doing. Everyone in the league gets positive and negative comments on strategy and specific moves they make.

They are. But you look primed for a third consecutive season 25+ games under 0.500 and well out of the playoff picture. Given that you're employing the same philosophy you discuss here every chance you get, I think it's absolutely fair to point out that it hasn't actually worked for you.

Bigger idiot:

1. Guy who moves a mid-round pick for Vogelsong to add an 8th starter for his playoff run.

2. Guy who moves most of his MLB players for picks and prospects, then burns multiple picks at the draft because he has too many to use.

For whatever reason I've never been into feedback or trash talking in Fantasy ball.

Hey Ken can you paste the article by Ben Badler on Yasmany Tomas in the Tomas thread if you could, the link is in there. I'm dying to read it, as I think he's top notch on IFA's?

For you Jay and a few others I will. Wish I could block a few *******s from reading it but I can't so Im hoping they have me on ignore

Everyone has their own strategy and their own way of enjoying playing fantasy ball, lets just leave it at that. I never really understood why people trash talk tbh. The only times I ever trash talked was when I was playing guys I knew personally and I only did it privately and it was all in good fun.

I don't even do that.

But seeing it's ramped up on me the past couple months, maybe I'll just turn into a huge ******** and get the hook from the league.

I don't need any f***ing faggots who are for some reason hanging around Proboards during the season PM'ing me on trade offers and then calling me out saying I'm MIA. I'm the last person who's MIA in Fantasy Leagues. f***ing goofs.

OMG, Peach got raped in that trade....well then offer something up you pieces of s***.

Jesus, someone went overboard.

Yes, but weren't you the guy who claimed that you absolutely hate when people explain what they're thinking when they offer you a trade proposal

Did you really think I'd care whether or not you read that?

After you responded directly to me? Yes.

Maybe the board needs a trash talk thread. Once it starts there are a lot of posters who refuse to end it . Mods could move trash talk to that thread thus allowing those of us who just want to talk about baseball to avoid this s***.

Honestly, almost all of the trash-talking that happens in DDL is extremely good-natured. It's transaction discussion that seems to annoy Gibbers, and I find that stuff the life-blood of the league. I like that everyone offers their opinion on a big trade and it rarely gets personal.

Gibbers didn't even make a trade though...this came from talking about Donaldson.

Posted

The amount of failed starters turned bullpen aces in the Royals and Orioles bullpen still makes me wonder why some are against trading Sanchez and Norris for Donaldson. The odds of Sanchez and Norris becoming #3 or better SP's in the bigs is not very high, and with Sanchez it's far more likely he'll s*** the bed as a starter for a few years before turning into Andrew Miller at age 25/26 when all hope is lost.

Seriously, I know it was just a trade made up by someone on this forum, but trade Sanchez/Norris/Lawrie for Donaldson. Hell, throw in another prospect and get Oakland to include Gentry. Kill two birds with one stone.

Posted
I brought up his fantasy team because it's kind of annoying that he's condescending about keeping any player past 27-28, but his team of kids in the DDL is a disaster.

I just re-read this. Where exactly am I condescending EVER regarding Fantasy Baseball, when I haven't been called out? I'll agree to the fact I'm very stubborn in discussions about the same topic about team building in real baseball. But if you wanna make s*** up, go right ahead.

Actually what really pissed me off was managers saying I was MIA.

Pretty much calling out my integrity in the league. And I'd be willing to bet I spend a far greater amount of time on Fantasy Leagues over the course of a year than the stooges who called me out.
