GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 That's ******** because I liked the guy! We grew up with him I think lol
Eragon Verified Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Rod. Black. Ugh I like Rod Black. He made the game more exciting, even when it was a boring game. Feel free to lay it on me for that - obviously he's not much of a baseball guy.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Anyone old enough to remember Brian Williams on the CBC weekend broadcasts. That man's voice was made for baseball. I have no idea whether or not he knew what he was talking about. Yes!
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Even though he's a pretty terrible person, Matt Vasgersian. What's bad about him?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Best homerun call in the history of the game: http://m.mlb.com/video/v14062635/tbtor-mcdonald-belts-a-walkoff-shot-in-the-11th/?c_id=mlb
GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 AND THE JAYS ARE WINNERS He used that exact phrase two or three times lol He uses it for the Raps too. Great voice, universally respected across basketball, and actually knows what he's talking about for the most part in baseball (not statsy but not bad). He's also a pretty solid guy.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 What's bad about him? He made some horrible remarks on air I think.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Anyone old enough to remember Brian Williams on the CBC weekend broadcasts. That man's voice was made for baseball. I have no idea whether or not he knew what he was talking about. Brian Williams and John Cerutti were awesome, for sure.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 We grew up with him I think lol Best HR calls are walkoffs with him because you can hear him painting and filled with excitement. The dude legitimately is excited about baseball, all giddy like a kid

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW GROSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS Him and Rautins on the Raptors' broadcast. f***ing horrible. Matt Devlin was excellent on the Jays' broadcast last year. Was sad when he left. That call on the Muni double isn't something I'm going to forget. I agree on Devlin, but I don't mind Rautins as much, at least being a former player the guy knows his stuff, very informed.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 I remember that haha. This is the best call ever though, sorry: http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/0/v4429233/bobby-thomsons-shot-heard-round-the-world/?c_id=mlb Obvious sarcasm on my part.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 BTS has high standards I still remember last year about 1/3 of the way in to the season he was posting in the GDT asking "who's the idiot with the grey hair in the broadcast with Buck this game??" or some such. To which 5-6 posters answered "Dude that's Jack Morris"
GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Does anyone have the John McDonald father's day home run call?
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Obvious sarcasm on my part. lol I know. I like Michael Kay's home run calls. They're almost as unique as Hawk's.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Anyone else remember when Buck tried copying the Yankees' homerun call?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 I remember being devastated when Chuck Swirsky left. I pretty much stopped watching basketball after that. I never really had the pleasure of listening to him
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Anyone else remember when Buck tried copying the Yankees' homerun call? He also frequently copies Gary Thorne.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 I never really had the pleasure of listening to him He was probably the best overall announcer of any sport that I've ever heard.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Does anyone have the John McDonald father's day home run call? That was one of the best baseball moments according to Gibbers.
Eragon Verified Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Jack Morris is terrible. He was way better than the impression people gave of him.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 The Buck Martinez Soundboard I was expecting this:
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 To be fair, Morris had mostly been on the radio to that point, and I thought he was just so-so.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 He was probably the best overall announcer of any sport that I've ever heard. I wasn't aware that he did other sports, baseball and hockey?
