Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Looks like minor leaguer Will West got suspended again for failing the drug program DURING the time he was already suspended for failing the drug program lol.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Rodney close to signing with the Orioles.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Love Braden's attitude regarding being forced to retire: “There is nothing left in there, it's just a shredded mess,” Braden told Slusser. “I left my arm on the mound at the Coliseum, and I'm okay with that." http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/01/dallas-braden-to-retire.html
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Rodney close to signing with the Orioles. I though they weren't going to sign a closer??

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 The fallacy of the contract year lol. No fallacy about getting into better shape than normal when you know you need to get paid.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I kind of feel like people are too quick to dismiss things like this after reading a study saying players tend not to outperform projections in contract years. On an individual level, it makes perfect sense that Sandoval will have a good year after dropping 40+ pounds and getting back in shape. But then once he signs his big contract is he gonna let himself go again...
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Nice? http://www.statcorner.com/CatcherReport.php Keep scrolling, keep scrolling. Don't worry bro, Jack Z is gonna touch on the sabermetric numbers that led him to make this signing at the SABR analytics conference.

Glad to see you take off your sabr shirt button on this one:) I know the common belief is that the contract year is a myth but when we understand these people are humans with family.. I mean, if you were coming up to FA it would prob be discussed with your wife constantly. There's no doubt it can makes guys like PS prepare and focus on the upcoming season more than the avg one. Of course, that doesn't guarantee positive results..it's feasible in basbeall that one could prepare harder and still have a worse season than normal.. But in can also produce fanastic results in some cases..when you see signs like a guy losing 40lbs to prepare, taking the "over" is the wise choice though not gtd
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 On the flip side..guys like Colby Rasmus (most likely) go with the flow and I doubt an upcoming FA season would be much diff than any other season in terms of prep/focus

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 That is a lot of mother f***ing cake. You know he would have gotten somewhere close to that on the open market anyway.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I can't imagine 30 million a year for 1 player... even if they are best! Then again it's the dodgers
