Terrible non-signing. Especially since the guy has history here. Don't care about the injury/velocity problems.

 

Hard to complain at all about a minor league signing, but Marcum's velocity is almost at Buehrle level now. Combine that with the injury issues and reports of other things, I'm not sure he'd be any kind of improvement over the kids we have. AAA rotation appears that it's going to be pretty stacked as it is already.

Wasn't healthy last year and still had a lower xFIP than Dickey!

4.22 in 78.1 innings, at Citi Field in the NL compared to 4.23 in 224.2 innings at RC in the AL. Dickey's HR/9 jumped from 0.92 to 1.4 between 2012 at Citi and 2013 at RC.

 

Edit: Not trying to imply that Marcum wouldn't be worthwhile on a minor league deal, I just couldn't abide the blatant cherry-picking lol

I'd rather see McGowan, Drabek, Hutchison, Happ, Stroman or even Romero. The Jays have no need for a project like Marcum, I'm not sure why people have to complain every time a player signs with a team that isn't the Jays.

Wouldn't it? Curveballs don't curve in Coors, so I'd expect curveball pitchers to put up worse K-rates there than anywhere else. The same thing is true about other environments to a lesser degree.
