Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 That wont be necessary, according to our insider there's no need to worry... AA is just "waiting for the price to drop". LMAO Right now: Edwin + Stroman for Price; Sanchez + Stroman + Pillar for Shark January: Edwin + Nolin for Price; Sanchez + DJ Davis + Tirado + AJ for Shark
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 Speculation? Knowing Alex, it's a high probability!!
Howard Roark Verified Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Did not want Floyd. We have enough 4 and 5's, this team needs a front-end guy.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 And apparently, Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun reports that Floyd didn't want to go anywhere near the AL East: Dan Connollyt @danconnollysun Industry source: #Orioles offered Balt native Gavin Floyd 2-yr deal worth, w incentives, $20M. Took 1yr, $4m (pot. $4.5 more w inctvs) w Atl Probably shows that Floyd either doesn't like Baltimore, wants to stay out of the AL East, or he feels he'll be better in Atlanta.

We really had better hang on to our young pitching...
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I don't completely buy the Toronto can't sign a FA because it's Toronto. But when it comes to where a team is, perception is pretty huge. When the Jays were building their team last year, they probably could have convinced a bunch of FA's beyond Melky to sign. Toronto made dramatic trades last year and improved by 1 win, KC made dramatic trades last year and improved by 14 wins (as much as the trades hurt them and their improvements mostly came from young players already on their roster improving). As inept as I think Dayton Moore is, the fact that the only two members of their starting hitters being in their 30's (and both of them were acquired this off season...Infante and Ioki), in fact their entire bench is in their 20's as well I believe. To me to think that perception and probably reality, that KC isn't ahead of where Toronto is in development of a playoff team is pretty much being a homer. I really don't get why people wouldn't want to go to Toronto, it's a great city, good (perhaps I should say large) fanbase and clearly much better (as a city) than much worse cities like Detroit (though they have a better baseball history) or Cleveland (no offense to anyone who lives there). Maybe it's a stereotype that players have built thinking that Canada = hockey 24/7 or some wrongly made perception about the country itself.
The_DH Verified Member Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I'm starting to think Rogers has hamstrung AA because of that hockey deal.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I'm starting to think Rogers has hamstrung AA because of that hockey deal. A winter tour that's not even leaving southern Ontario suggests penny pinching.
