jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 f*** you Billy Beane. Thank you Billy Beane. I like Kazmir, though he comes with a lot of risk. If the Jays signed him, I wouldn't have been that thrilled. We'll see the financial details, though Kazmir is a good fit in Oakland if he's healthy.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 f*** you Billy Beane. +1.... I don't even know. Where else are we going to find a starter with that upside for that cash?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2013 Author Posted December 2, 2013 Kazmir sucks Prob get injured game 1 NO. You're talking about Brett Anderson!!
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 NO. You're talking about Brett Anderson!! http://www.picgifs.com/job-graphics/job-graphics/drummer/drummer16.gif
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Aww poo. I still think Kazmir will provide the most value, Garza will get considerably more money, and might not outpitch him enough to provide the.same value.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 The Twitter gurus all figure this makes Colon a free agent and Anderson available via trade
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2013 Author Posted December 2, 2013 This is a total steal. Kazmir is super legit. Brett "Ace/#1 stuff but can't be healthy" Anderson available as always.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 What a steal. He has recovered nicely and his BB/9 is the best of his career, with a still respectible K/9
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 The Twitter gurus all figure this makes Colon a free agent and Anderson available via trade Anderson for loup and sierra
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Anderson for loup and sierra why not Izzy while we're at it
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 What a perfect fit for the A's.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Now people are saying 22M
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Yup looks to be at 22 million over 2 years.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 I'm not an AA fan at all.. but you have to respect the challenge he faces when pitchers on bargain deals arent coming to a launch pad like RC. That's why he has to pursue like every trade imaginable

If the Jays signed him, I wouldn't have been that thrilled. We'll see the financial details, though Kazmir is a good fit in Oakland if he's healthy. Maybe we can talk about getting Kazmir to your FC team as a mid-rotation piece. I'm shopping him.

Much easier to convince a power hitter to come to a good hitting park than a pitcher to come here.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Kazmir was the ultimate FA signing for his cost. Probably the best arm in the SP FA market and would be cheaper than all the rest. 2/17 is a great signing. The A's definitely can afford taking the risk with the rotation they have. He'll be a great fit in Oakland and that ballpark if healthy. As for the Jays signing him at that price, I definitely would have been on-board, though he wouldn't alone be the answer to the rotation problems. I can understand why the Jays might have passed on him - a lot of risk, and I'm sure it would costed the Jays more to sign him than 2/17.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Bring Colon home Alex. 2-3 years 5/6 AAV Get it done.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Yep, awesome deal for the A's. Sigh, there are no good value signing SP options left with Kazmir, Haren, Nolasco, Hughes, and Johnson gone. Gavin Floyd? Scott Baker? Jeff Niemann?

Much easier to convince a power hitter to come to a good hitting park than a pitcher to come here. Attrition rate is so high on pitchers that for that to work, you really need to hold on to all of them. When you start playing favorites about which ones to keep (Sanchez, Osuna) and which ones to trade (Syndergaard, etc.) you are greatly diminishing the odds of the strategy working.

I'm a believer in drafting the best player on the draft board.. you can never have too much minor league pitching.. you can turn it into what you want if your prospects are good.. but AA has no balance in drafting.. too heavy on the big risk, possible high reward guys.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 This is a total steal. Kazmir is super legit. Was Kazmir super legit last offseason? I think his name was mentioned by some last offseason and I think a majority laughed and wanted no part as a bounce back candidate. Funny how a year changes things.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 You realize that before last year kazmir was injured for 2 years. I think he only pitched a couple of games last time he got a major contract I recall the odd one or two posters suggesting the Jays take a chance on Kazmir a year or two ago and they got tar and feathered. Ironic how things change.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Bring Colon home Alex. 2-3 years 5/6 AAV Get it done. pls no or else wilko will bring back another retarded bartolo avatar
