Janssen + Pillar for Hanigan, and Santos for for Cervelli/Stewart. Extend Hanigan 2 + option. We now have a rock solid but unspectacular catching tandem for 2-3 years, lower 2014 salary commitments, and lose basically nothing of value.

Trading a "rock solid closer with the mental toughness to pitch in the AL East" for a guy with a career .350 SLG just doesn't seem to fit the criteria for what our GM values.

Not much, but I definitely don't think you're adding to Janssen to get Hanigan. The Reds would love to get a closer and slide Chapman into the rotation.

I'm not opposing trading Jannsen+ for a catcher... But Hanigan? Shouldn't we be aiming higher?

AA says the bulk of his money is earmarked for pitching so I don't think there's much higher to aim. Could trade a different pitcher though.

Rather have AJ on a one year plus option than anyone else discussed. Hell, we're talking about Molina as an upgrade over JP, so the bar isn't being set very high here.
