kgm1 Verified Member Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Not that it will happen but with about 600 to 700 million being pumped into the 30 teams and the free agent market thin and hugely overpriced it would be a great year for teams to rid themselves of high priced bad contracts . Think of the haul AA could get if we pulled a marlin type rebuild . If we aren't in the thick of it in July we can still get a haul . How many top 100 guys or former ones who are in the majors do you think we could get . 10 ?
kgm1 Verified Member Posted November 20, 2013 Author Posted November 20, 2013 10 top 100 guys? What? I was just thinking of this but I am fairly confident that if we are not in contention in July, AA will not be rebuilding. Rebuilding now (starting over) = failure, and that will cost AA his job. Our team has stated multiple times that we have a "3 year window of contention", so if we are nearing July 2015 without contention I could see us letting AA go and starting the rebuild again. Your most likely right because AA would be gone if we had to rebuild but that is the wrong Move IMO. EE , Bautista , Reyes , could net 2 each , Dickey 1 + Rasmus 1 + Meh maybe only 8 plus some decent guys for Buehrle and Bull pen pieces .

Funky Verified Member Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Sellers market Bautista lands Profar +. - key trade to set up rebuild Reyes lands Shelby Miller and Scott - top of lineup starter and a younger more powerful/ cheaper Lind Lind grabs us a decent prospect or possible catcher/OF Casey J or Santos + may get us Phillips in Cincy to keep some veteran leadership and help provide some lost offence Just some late night delusional thoughts

GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Melkey + Santos + Morrow + Izzy + Sierra for N.Castellanos + D.Smyly - DET This is one giant huge ball of no. This will never happen, ever. Melky is bleh Santos is a reliever Izzy is bleh and Sierra is f***ing Sierra and that's pretty much Morrow +spares for Castellanos AND Smyly.

Brutal playing with a tumor in the spine.

He still had two more years on his,” says Phillips. “And for [the front office] to go out there and sign him before they sign me, and they knew I was going to be a free agent?”" Provide some lost offence: 2012, 1% Above average; 2013, 10% below the average; 2014, ? x 10% below average
