Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Done! The Yankees are said to be willing to post at $75million+. So I'm not sure the good it will do. Can Rogers justify $80 million when they're complaining that American telephone companies are coming in. On the one hand crying poverty and on the other dropping $80million just to talk to the guy and then dole out another 80 million. With private owners in New York they can do whatever they want because it's their money. Corps have a tougher time if they dole out cash and then don;t give raises to their employees. And if they CAN in fact post and justify it then they should be able to outbid most teams. I don't think it's justifiable. 80M + salary (probably more than 70M) would be the equivalent of paying an unproven (in NA) pitcher 25M / year. Where the money comes from (1 time expense vs baseball payroll) is just accounting tricks. I mean, that's the same as King Felix. Even Verlander isn't that high. Most people seem to feel Tanaka won't be an ace like Darvish. The only reason it makes sense for the Yankees to go overboard like that, is they wouldn't have to pay 40% overage on half the contract since the posting fee isn't counted against the cap, which would "save" them 32M over another highly paid pitcher while helping get them under the cap this year to reset it.

I ask because I've always thought in my head as its pronounced as two A's, and then I went and listed to the first 10 seconds of this video: http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/jays-arencibia-wont-return-as-backup/ And he pronounced it Double A I have always pronounced it A.A as in the meeting he may send me too if this off season turns out the way most of us think it will.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 The Blue Jays rotation will not improve enough with free agency. Sanchez, Stroman and Hutchison are the men who will make a difference if they remain with the team. Trade Bautista and get a young OF + decent SP is a good idea right now; Trade Stroman-Sanchez and keep Bautista is not. Bautista to the A's for Russell and Choice
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Bautista to the A's for Russell and Choice Russell is gold, Choice dont like him

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Maybe Double A is where AA should be general-mismanaging.
Jays Verified Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I have always pronounced it A.A as in the meeting he may send me too if this off season turns out the way most of us think it will. Same here, and the same way for EE.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Ricky Nolasco His K% is really weird. Sometimes he strikes out a ton of guys and others he's Mark Buehrle. Weird.
