“It’s not like my command is bad, they’re competitive walks,” Sanchez says. “Don’t get me wrong, there are some four-pitch walks, but being able to throw my curveball for a strike and put out people with my curveball is probably the biggest thing I wanted to work on this year, because I feel like my changeup and my fastball are pretty much there every night.”

“I want people to beat me with my best stuff, that’s everybody’s thought process,” says Sanchez. “Getting cheap hits on my off-speed was frustrating at the beginning, but I understood the big picture. This whole process since I’ve been drafted is looking at the whole big picture and yeah, maybe it’s slower and I still may be in high-A, but there’s been a plan since the day I signed and it’s about sticking to it.”

In past years the curveball has been more of a finishing pitch for Sanchez—an “0-2 hammer punch-out curve,” as he describes it—while this season he incorporated a slower version of it in the 79–84 range that finishes in the zone. The difference, he explains, is in “the release point.”

“I was trying to make it too nasty, and taking a step back, and letting it do the work out front is what’s helped me,” he continues. “It was always a good curveball, I just could never throw it for a strike, so nobody would respect it. They were sitting fastball. Now that I can throw that, it’s getting me through five, six, seven innings.”

already posted in the proper subforum

Yeah. The problem with the subforum is there's a "The prospect/minor league thread" which basically all the prospect/minor league news gets posted making the subforum totally irrelevant if everything is going in one thread.

I only use that for small talk and bigger news I post in threads and such.

But why have that thread if you have the subforum for it? It made sense when there was no subforum. If you have a subforum that doesnt get alot of views....any news should have its own thread so i don't have to scroll through 160 pages to get news on prospects.

...news goes in its own thread. Small talk.goes in the minor league thread. Small talk aka "Wow! Brad Glenn threw me a ball!

Makes sense to me

You do realize there is a last page button, right? You don't have to scroll through every page to get to the last one

Kalbus has his own thread.

One is for small discussion and news that doesn't deserve its own thread and the others are for legitimate news.

Twitter quotes about performances are small stuff. I'm pretty sure there's a BA prospect list thread there right now...

I guess my point is, the average member on this forum doesn't view that subforum much...So when someone check its out it would be nice to have specific threads such as game recaps, ect. I know you guys are regulars so it's no biggie for you but for the average member its annoying. No big deal though....but appreciate a thread on Sanchez in the main forum so i could read about it.

You see arrogance, I see confidence.

Agreed, didn't come off as arrogant to me. He does have a good curve, everyone knows it. What's wrong with stating it?

....and the maturity and short-term memory necessary to succeed in the big leagues...

BTW -- I'm on here a lot (but I don't post much) because I enjoy reading the debates. I don't frequent the sub-forums because the threads become endless. I'm in favour of having the odd thread created here with substantial information. Especially at this time of year...

TBH this thread, http://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/26-The-Prospect-Minor-Leagues-Thread?highlight=prospect+thread, should be moved to the main forum and can be used for the endless updates. Big news (top prospect call ups, top 100 lists, etc) should get their own threads here as well. The sub-forums should be used for smaller day-to-day things that people want to discuss (daily performances, AFL updates, updated scouting reports bush league or otherwise, any relevant videos/pictures/tweets/media, etc) that don't deserve their own thread here but, do warrant one for those of us who are prospect junkies.

This shouldn't be it's own thread in the main sub-forum as this was an interesting article but isn't new information. If you are interested in discussing these kinds of prospect tidbits all season and off-season long then consider this an open invitation to join in the prospect sub-forum, it is filled with information like this from across the Jays system.

Of the players he's drafted they haven't really been given a chance at the majors yet.

Who of them do you think have the talent (NO Sanchez-Stroman)?

we could see Sanchize after the break in 2014.... if all goes well

Sanchez and Stroman arise August 2014 and we go all Oakland A's on everybody

Cheap young starters and we jettison Happ and Romero

Love it...
