Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 It's loaded with guys who can hit the ball of out of any ballpark (EE, Rasmus, Bautista, JPA), I'd venture to say that the opposition benefits more from our park than we do. Considered that but don't really agree. Plainly put, if you are a home run hitting team you don't put your fences back.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 The latest is "blame the players," which is hilarious. Some people think AA can't be held responsible because he's not on the field losing all these games. I bet Gibbons would gladly take the fall just to get away from this fiasco.
Jays Verified Member Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 They don't need to move the fences back. It's not like we have any flyball pitchers in our rotation. Afterall, what GM wouldn't assemble a staff of non FB pitchers in a stadium and division like this?
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Considered that but don't really agree. Plainly put, if you are a home run hitting team you don't put your fences back. It feels like we don't have many that just sneak over the wall. All of ours seems to be into the stands. I haven't looked at a home run log for the distances though.

Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Reyes at SS long term won't work. I honestly think his good bat is offset by his sub-par defense.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Ok I looked up all Just Enough home runs at Rogers Centre this year (per hittrackeronline). The Blue Jays have 19 and the opposition has 21. So it seems like this hasn't really been a thing, but perhaps the Jays hit more fly balls than their opponents. Edit: The Jays have hit 56.5% non-grounders and their opponents 55.6%. Not enough of a discrepancy to skew the above numbers. Ahh.. there you go
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Our line-up is loaded with power hitters, if anything we would want our ballpark to help the balls carry more. Saying otherwise is a pretty lousy excuse for a miserable season; miserable starting pitching. Yeah, they don't need to fix it "for the Blue Jays", I didn't meanit that way More just for the integrity of the game. What the Blue Jays need to do is improve the starting pitching.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 I honestly think his good bat is offset by his sub-par defense. No.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Wow our Buffalo line-up looks so bad, 1-5: McCoy Gose Pillar Jimenez Sierra We have nearly zero offensive depth.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Reddick needs to shave that beard. He looks like a homeless person. He actually did cut it back a lot. It used to look like this: http://ww3.hdnux.com/photos/20/27/04/4288798/0/940x583.jpg http://www.sfgate.com/news/slideshow/Josh-Reddick-039-s-beard-off-57962.php
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 No. On avg, how many plays per game do you think Hech makes that Reyes doesn't make?
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 I kind of want to see Reddick hit 4 homeruns. Atleast it would be history. One day somebody will hit 5, then it will really be history.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 On avg, how many plays per game do you think Hech makes that Reyes doesn't make? 0.6 (source: my ass) Reyes scores twice as many runs
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Defense up the middle is extremy important and ours is very poor. Long term Reyes and Rasmus need to be moved. JPA can't catch but who knows if they will ever figure this out. The sad part is. Even if Gose had a really good season in AAA. They would put him in LF even though hes the better defender because Rasmus is already established in Center. Yankees even moved Granderson to LF. Apparently we don't get that memo. Have you looked at Granderson's defensive ratings in center? They moved him for good reason. Colby has been well above average. That wouldn't make it necessarily the right decision to leave Colby at center if Gose came up, but the situations are not the same.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 I want a position player to pitch the 9th. Mathis did once last year
theblujay Verified Member Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Looks like I didn't miss much.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 0.6 (source: my ass) Reyes scores twice as many runs I'd argue Hech who is an excellent SS makes on average between 1-2 plays a game that Reyes doesn't make. To me that more than offsets Reyes bat... but whatever, it's a tough argument to make.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 I want a position player to pitch the 9th. Clearly you're just looking for theatrics at this point.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 LOL Bautista is now happy. The team is down by 10 but he hit his HR so all is well.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 What else are we watching for. I gotta work at 5 AM. Go to bed foo!
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 I love seeing Lawrie asking everyone about the pitchers and getting all the info he can
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 LOL Bautista is now happy. The team is down by 10 but he hit his HR so all is well. personal stats are important...
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Blue Jays are 6th in the majors in runs scored.... our SP sure has f***ed us, right up the goat ass.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 By UZR the difference between a hit and and out for shortstop is roughly .75 (depends slightly on the specific zone the ball is hit to). So if you allow that Hech is a 15 run upgrade over Reyes in a full season, he makes 0.123 more plays per game. Not nearly as much as people are making it out to be. Excellent retort, thank you. Though I think it's more significant than your calculation is making it out to be.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Leave it to Boneface to kill the rally.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 bumfiasco is just really bad at baseball. what a sack of s***. he has to be the poster boy for AA's stupidity.

Arkadium Verified Member Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Would be pretty funny to see this gongshow end on a Bautista hissyfit
