Liberal means different things in different places. In Europe, a liberal is someone who believes in de-regulation, low taxes and unfettered capitalism.

If someone put a gun to my head and were armed with a lie-detector and demanded to know my true political leanings, I would have to say that at heart I support any system that grants the greatest amount of personal liberty to the individual whilst intruding as little as possible into said liberty to ensure that they do not abuse their liberty to intrude upon any other person's personal liberty, as granted by the system, of course.

 

You want to be "free"? Go live in the wilderness and hunt small game with self-made weaponry that is made from easily-attainable raw materials. Even then, you're never free from the elements. Freedom is an elusive goal, we live under myriad little tyrannies, and a few large ones, at all times.
