P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 You just got that feeling he'd do that.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 I prefer: -Rasmus CF -Pop bat LF (Melky is s***....Selig help us please) -Pillar 4th OF -Gose improving his bat in the minors for when we lose Rasmus in free agency. Let's say Bud helps out the Jays and suspends Cabrera for 2014. How about a Gose/Pillar CF/LF platoon with Rasmus Playing LF when Gose starts and CF when Pillar starts. It won't happen, but I would use the money saved on Cabrera towards 2b and/or C. Lawrie finding his offensive mojo would be huge and one of the things to watch in what's left of this horrible season.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 I'm in favour of improving the team defensively. Especially in Center. However we can't expect Pillar to make a signifacnt impact. He doesn't provide much power either. It's an idea to save money in lf/cf to spend it in 2b/C where the team has no near-mlb-ready players. It's a big if of course as Cabrera has a 2 year contract. Edit: Also, Cabrera doesn't have power either, not to mention speed and defense.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Nice play in Right! Jose having a better game today after s***ing the bed yesterday
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Author Posted July 27, 2013 Jose having a better game today after s***ing the bed yesterday Tbh he's only had like a nice 4 innings, ever since he got the single he started doing well lol

I just don't think Alex will look to upgrade LF unless Melky's contract comes off the books. Gose and Pillar in the 25-roster at same time? - No way. Maybe in september. Pillar can't draw walks or hit for pop.....Can he play CF?
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 strike zone breaking down.... ump is getting really bad
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 So the bats are great and the pitching is blowing. Nothing new, I guess. Let's go #top50catcher

Cabrera has no pop or speed either and he gets paid like 8M.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Chris Archer shutout the Yanks Price + Moore + Hellickson + Archer = 24-1 since june 19th
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Good effort bats. JJ needs some xFIP regression right about now

Pillar (.270-280/.315/.380 MLB level) isn't an upgrade over Melky.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Pillar can play CF. But shouldn't everyday. LF is his best position but doesn't have the power to profile there everyday. Again, neither does Cabrera and for around 7M less, I'd be interested in a platoon in LF/CF with Gose/Pillar and even Davis to use that money elsewhere. I also want to see Janssen traded to save 4M there 'cause to pay Janssen and Santos 4M each is just not how I would use my resources.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Pillar (.270-280/.315/.380 MLB level) isn't an upgrade over Melky. Are you taking into account $, defense and speed?
