But we'd have hope for a dynasty. A future to look forward to.

But instead we are faced with the future of a big payroll and nothing from the farm in the next few years. A Marlins/Astros future is incoming, more painful years of rebuilding

Well, that was my point, they had something good going, there was no need expedite the process by trading away what was good about the franchise. If they wanted to improve the team, they needed to go out and sign players thru FA. Anyway....too late.

Yup. You have to figure 2 more years of "contention". Maybe only 1 if we finish under 0.500 again next year. Then Beest retires, AA gets canned, and we hire a new GM to fix the disaster left to him. 3-4 years for an all-out rebuild. So we may contend in 4-6 years IF the new management team is competent.

I'd like to see them get an experienced general manager who has connections in baseball and is able to hire someone better than gibbons as a coach. AA is an amateur

Can't believe the Rays dumped Shields in the offseason and didn't skip a beat. This rotation is still top tier. I dunno how they can continue to develop quality young pitchers at such an alarmingly successful rate.

It's called good:

Management

GM

Farm

Plan

Development Team

Scouts

They are the picture perfect MLB franchise IMO

Bingo. It actually makes sense to root for this team to fail right now, as a catalyst to bring on the required changes.

The team will probably hit 25 consecutive years without a playoff appearance. That's f***ing shameful.

doesn't matter if ownership doesn't know how to replace the broken leadership.

I am 100% for blowing this team up but it's not going to happen

Beeston "if we don't win this year, we win the next"

AA will not admit to f***ing up by blowing up the team, he probably will be a buyer at the deadline

and if we don't win next year we win the year after... derp

Why did we sign Izturis to a 3 year contract

because he's from a losing team and collecting a bunch of players from losing teams makes a winning team

'cause he's Venezuelan and them can really catch the ball. lol

So AA wouldn't trade Syndergaard or d'Arnaud for Latos, but he was more than willing to pay that price for a 38 year old knuckleball pitcher?

Makes you think that old man Beeston was behind most of this. To be honest, all these moves were uncharacteristic to how AA was molding the franchise.

No doubt in my mind Beeston was heavily involved. Even with that, I blame AA for not getting discounts for the bad contracts he took off the Marlins' hands and for overpaying for not only going after a 38-year old FA-to-be, but for overpaying as well.

Anyway....too late.
