According to equiv calculator (http://mlsplits.drivelinebaseball.com/mlsplits/mlecalc), from his AAA numbers (obviously SSS), his MLB slash projects as:

.301 / .345 / .510

Though I did the same with his AA numbers and it was much worse.

Let's see what he can do up here when he does get here. I get the impression that people think his ceiling is Reed Johnson, but nobody knows.

Bottom line for me is the season is over, he's an upgrade to Melky Cabrera, who is just going to be a waste of time in LF (waiting and waiting for him to become PED Cabrera which can't happen).

.301 / .345 / .510

Are you the Mayor Ford?

It's not good idea to mix cocaine, alcohol and cat pee.

Pillar deserves a look but lets be realistic, he probably is going to be a 4th OF or a below average 3rd OF. Nothing wrong with that, as he could be a cheap option for us as a backup for a few years.

The result will be the same regardless of who uses the calculator, crack-cocaine or not.

Warning flags. He's been old for every level, won't hit for power and won't walk. IMO you're left with a 25-year old who may be good enough to be a 4th OF. But you can sign a good 4th OF every offseason so he's really not worth anything.

Keppinger type player? All contact, low Ks, low BBs, multiple position?

In other words, what do we do with Melky Cabrera... that's basically his slash line and position this season

Yep. While most prospects do not pan out, there are some who do. I believe Pillar can stick in the bigs but who knows. He certainly has the work ethic and is still relatively young.

This should tell you all you need to know about MLB calculators ;)

I know I know, but I'm just trying to counter the s***** user projections of .270 / .310 / .360.

I think .360 is a bit light , doubles for days.

The problem is that he doesn't walk or hit for power. What do you do with a corner guy who goes 280/310/360?

Pitchers challenge hitters who don't hit for power, probably why he doesn't walk that much. I'm guessing he's a Reed Johnson type with upside.

C'mon my bro......SSS

"won't hit for power and won't walk"

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we recently sign an outfielder to a 2 year/$16 million contract that fits that description pretty well.

If Melky played good D and ran well (like Pillar) it would be working out ok.

Also you wouldn't have to pay him $8mil/year

They're hyping him. If we were to indeed trade for Peavy, Pillar's a good bet to be included. And CWS bit the last time the Blue Jays hyped up a prospect.

White Sox top-10 prospects

1-Hawkins

2-Pillar

3-19-********

20-Molina?

Molina's not a prospect anymore. There's nothing there. Erik Johnson is okay though, could be a top 100 guy.

btw

O's call up Urrutia

This thread will be funny in 4 months time if Pillar is a solid MLB player

Can't wait, lots of words will be eaten

At least something to anticipate (better than Blue Jays usual 'playing upset' in September)

Btw there is only 2.5 months of baseball left, why do you say 4 mo?

I just put a # that the season will be over in

Hate to burst your bubble: we are not going to the post season or the WS.

Agreed.. We should sell high

Sell high? What's he worth at this point? They need to call him up and he needs to hit before his stock rises to any significant value.

You've convinced me.

After much consideration, I'd rather have Carlos Gonzalez or Mike Trout than Kevin Pillar.

Also, I'm not sold on Sanchez. I think we would be better off going with Matt Harvey or Clayton Kershaw.

He also doesn't strikeout, though. He won't be a star or anything but he has a shot at being a solid regular. If he was a Cardinal, he's probably a 3 WAR player next season.
