As tough as it would have been, it would be nice to beat everyone's darlings Chicago. Really put us on that map

So this team is 39-20 since the Rudy trade.... That's equivalent to a team winning 107 games over a baseball season.

Elite team is officially elite? (Maybe we should win a playoff series before proclaiming that though lol)

Whats their record against the west since the trade?

It's being said on twitter that precedent is 2 games. Either to end the regular season or deferred to start next season.

Just suspend him vs Milwaukee and 76ers.

My biggest concern is that he can't leave the country because of a criminal record.

Is this really a concern? I'm not sure on the laws

Pretty sure you won't have to worry about that lol.

For all you know he had one sip of beer and got pulled over. Cop saw open bottles and he blew barely over 0.

Since he's under 21 in Ontario his BAC has to be 0 in order to legally drive

This is from realgm:

Wait so am I understanding this correctly?

- goes to mcdonalds

- worker sees beer bottles in his car, reports it

- police track down car

- arrest JV at his house

How can you prove he was drinking under the influence if he was home? Could have started drinking when he got in the door. How in the world would that hold up in court?

Reply to that message:

That's the thing it probably won't since JV could have had a beer when he came back in the house. There's too much ambiguity here for him to convicted.

Also from Josh Lewenberg: If the Raptors' second-year centre is convicted of the charge he will likely face supplementary discipline from the NBA. League precedent suggests he could face a one or two-game suspension, issued following a conviction.

Random quotes from Real GM:

Michael Grange:

First: Jonas Valanciunas will not be suspended for the any portion of the upcoming NBA playoffs.

Second: The Toronto Raptors centre is officially on his chance No.2 after being charged with impaired driving in Wasaga Beach, Ont., early Monday morning. Hopefully he uses it wisely.

He gets a second chance not because he’s as friendly and approachable a professional athlete as we’ve encountered in Toronto or anyone else.

He gets one not because the Toronto Raptors are finally, tantalizingly and surprisingly close to actually doing something meaningful for a city and fan base that has been stepped on for the better part of the last decade.

And he gets one not because being charged with DUI and allegedly having over 80 mg/100 ml of blood is an insignificant matter. It’s a very significant matter. Don’t drive drunk. No excuses. Don’t be this stupid again.

"Most of the team gathered Sunday afternoon at Rogers Centre where the Raptors had three suites reserved. DeMar DeRozan threw out the first pitch at the Jays-Yankees game and it’s estimated as many as 70 members of the Raptors extended family were on hand – most players; the coaching staff; members of the front office and friends and family.

One of the few players who didn’t go to the game was Valanciunas, who opted to go with his wife and friends to the Georgian Bay beach community about two hours from Toronto. Wasaga has long been a popular getaway for Toronto’s tightly-knit Lithuanian community – there is an international Lithuanian softball tournament there every summer and a Lithuanian church as well."

Doesn't sound like a terrible situation.

Roy Hibbert is so hilariously overrated.

44% from the field

11PPG/7RPG

PER 14.0

He's an elite defensive centre but his offense almost nearly negates that.

So tired of hearing about the Pacers. Can't wait to see them get embarrassed in the playoffs.

Pretty circumstantial evidence at this point, someone who I can't recall (SpeedyGose maybe) may have correctly pointed out that half the issue is the fact that you can't have any alcohol in the system when under 21 anymore. Obviously drinking and driving is wrong, and if JV did it he should thank his lucky stars he didn't hurt anyone. With that being said, given the ambiguity of it all, he should be fine and this will be forgotten about if he never does this again.

Indiana suck. Stephenson, George and Hibbert have a war between them.

Half of the pacer team would probably be dead or in prison right now if they werent basketball stars.

Ya and to top it all off, he doesn't even have to appear in the first court date which is April 22nd. He can have a lawyer show up on his behalf and he doesn't have to appear until there is a trial, which is looking doubtful at this point.

They really followed him from a McDonalds in Wasaga all the way to his house in Toronto and arrested him inside his house. Just insane. (like you said, terrible that he was drinking and driving, hopefully he learns from it but I am doubting a conviction at point)

ESPN has a stat for you! Real Plus-Minus (RPM): Plus-Minus that accounts for quality of teammates and other factors! Has WAR, too. Though, not sure how good it is yet.

Hibbert's Offensive and defensive RPM (ORPM and DRPM):

ORPM: -1.20

DRPM: 3.59

RPM: 2.39

WAR: 6.56

I saw that too, Frag. The components of the stat are hidden, so I am holding judgment of it till then.

Excited about it though!

I don't understand the Grange quote at all. So why is he given a second chance exactly if he eliminates all the reasons? Is it because of Lithuanian softball? Maybe it's me but I don't get it at all.
