Non-drafted Gorman throws 94??

Have you heard about Corey Gorman? Non-drafted, the Jays signed him right after the draft ended. According to the article below he's a LHP who throws 94?? He's on the GCL Jays. Any info?

Isn't the biggest guy so Stroman-like issues may present themselves... but that's plus velo from the left side. I'm definitely keeping an eye on this guy.

No info on Gorman anywhere because he's not a prospect. Undrafted senior who only managed to put up a 3.55 ERA (and terrible prior year stats) in Division III. He apparently started a job as a credit analyst at a bank on the Monday of draft week and had to quit that - wasn't even expecting to get an offer lol.

 

I wouldn't be using ERA in DIII, wouldn't the defense there be absolutely horrifying?

Probably, but plus lefty velo is always worth keeping an eye on, at least.

Since the article comes from bleacher report, it's entirely possible that he's a right handed first baseman from the moon.

He doesn't have plus velo though. Some B/R writer saying he once touched 94 != this guy has plus velo. He'll sit low 90s with a show-me slider.

 

I don't want to rip the guy, but he's an undrafted college senior who put up a career 5.05 ERA in Division III. He's happy to get a chance to have fun for a summer before starting his real career.

 

He struck out 10.12 K/9, or something to that effect. f*** it, I'll at least keep an eye on him.

Sometimes they need a new direction, i'm sure if we give him some time the club will be able to get a better idea of him. No risk situation for us.
