That's my issue, i don't think this offense is that good, they seem to go long stretches of futility way too often. Not enough patience, poor plate approach from too many batters.

I think this offence is struggling, but I do think they're good...

Reyes, Bautista, Encarnacion, Lind is a very solid top 4 in any line up when they're firing on all cylinders... All guys with the ability to post .350 OBPs and some (or lots of) pop (with the probable exception of Reyes on the power front...)

Thats fine with me but whats plan B?

Probably Morrow (who is almost as good, but just as fragile)... Stroman is probably ready for the majors next year too, though I expect him to need a few years to hit his stride.

Yep but the rest of the lineup is pretty brutal.

What are Bautista and EE's numbers on the road?

Morrow really cant be counted on at this point.

Dickey, Morrow, Buerhle, Stroman, Happ

That rotation doesnt really inspire much confidence especially when were trying to be a contender.

I don't put a huge amount of stock into "on the road" numbers... I mean, it's the same f***ing game, why'd would it be any different? I think it's often sample size variations.

You're right, there are some bad hitters on this team, but the bottom of most line-ups aren't great.

You have more faith in them than I do. I think Wang is going to get destroyed on the reg. Dude just doesn't strike anyone out, and rolls groundballs in front of an atrocious infield defense. Maybe Rogers can hold it together until he gets shut down in August.

The D improves markedly when Lawrie comes back, and Reyes has already given a bit of a boost. (Lind is a pretty good 1B based purely on the eye test as well.) I don't see Wang being destroyed, but I can see 3-5 ERs being his normal output in a 6 inning start.

Sure you'd like to think everything is the same on the road but it really isnt.

I mean just look at the numbers. We are a considerably worse hitting team on the road compared to the friendly confines of RC basically every season.

Bautista is terrible on the road this year.. worst on the team, not sure why but he is.

I also expect Kawasaki to be playing 2B some time in July. At least freaking Izturis is playing better and hopefully carries it to 2B if they don't call up Kawasaki, you know the guy from Japan?

Pretty much every team does worse on the road. Especially when the home park is a big positive run-scoring environment.

Such as Fenway. Red Sox usually have a big home/road split for their hitters.

When I said "for a long while now" I didn't mean long while in the scope of days/weeks, I meant long while in a much smaller scope. There hadn't been any drama for several pages when you made that post.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Now, in my mind, his comment "This place has become a s*** show any time the Jays are losing" clearly refers to a larger scope than just several pages so my agreement was based on that.

For some weird reason you felt the need to attempt to minimize my response with a silly "it was totally redundant of you to quote that post just to agree" comment. What made it even sillier is your incorrect interpretation of what was being said. I am not looking for a fight however I will not back away from one if that's what someone is looking for. I try to be clear with my questions and answers and I usually respond accordingly. ;)

Ya thats true.

It just looks like this teams offense goes completely limp way too often on the road.

Izturis has been one of my favorite players this year, even before he got hot at the plate, but after he started getting used to the turf. The guy never strikes-out, makes solid contact, has had terribly bad BABIP luck, and plays a solid infield wherever they put him. Plus he doesn't whine or show anyone up, plays the game right.

I think your right, this entire road trip so far the offense has been cringe worthy, and sadly, some of the pitchers we faced were ripe for the taking.

the Redsox have better offensive numbers on the road than the Blue Jays have at home.

Agree, liking izturis more and more. He has been playing well for the last month now.

Just checked the O's actually hit better on the road then at Camden.

The sox hit better on the road as well. Don't know why the jays are so bad on the road, it's the same game. Jays hitters seem to fall into bad habits, or don't change their approach based on what a pitcher is doing often enough.

ZIPS has him at a 5.76 ERA ROS, and Steamer 4.95 and he's provided 0.0 WAR (before today's debacle) in ~150 ML innings since 2008. I dunno, I think you're just more bullish on him than most. Or at least as bullish as one can be about a fringy 5th starter.

Our difference of opinion is basically that you don't think he can offer anything at all, and that I think he can offer a little bit. It's splitting hairs at this point, and the difference between our two positions is pretty small considering that neither of expects much from him...

I'm comfortable with him in the #5 role to the point where I wouldn't move any assets for anything less than a significant upgrade.

It also seems like they cannot hit lefties either, although I am too lazy to look it up.

guess who vs lefties
