Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 I hope we draft some low ceiling college pitcher. Asher Wocjjjhjhu, Comer, Musgrove
ace3113 Verified Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 No Covey or Whitson anywhere? I don't think Whitson signs, and Covey is too inconsistent for me and is going to want to get paid to make up for not signing 3 years ago so at least 500k you have to think.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Asher Wocjjjhjhu, Comer, Musgrove I think those 2 were high school pitchers.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 This would be kinda f***ing amazing. It would pretty much guarantee one of Shipley, Moran, Frazier or Meadows being there. I think McDaniel reported it on twitter. There's a lot of wild rumors right now. The guys at PG are saying Stewart or Moran more and more possible at 1-1.

ace3113 Verified Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Tidbits from the PG chat: Comment From Kris Daly (Sherpa) Hey Frankie, Who do you see the Jays potentially grabbing with the # 10 pick? AllanSimpson: Don't mean to butt in on Frankie, but I spent quite a bit of time with some of my Canadian friends talking Jays last night, and the three names that kept coming up were C Reese McGuire, 3B D.J. Peterson and SS J.P. Crawford--all legit choices in that spot. Frankie Piliere: Trey Ball is the big name there the last couple days, I'll stick with that one for now. Harvey I think is in play there too. Comment From Cale Who was the better prospect at the same stage and who has more upside Matt Smoral (2012) or Trey Ball (2013)? Todd Gold: Smoral on both accounts in my opinion, I lean OF for Ball's future. I think Smoral would have gone very high had he been healthy last spring. David Rawnsley: Cale, at the same stage I would prefer a healthy Smoral. I think people tend to forget him (obviously not you) but he was a potential top half of the first round draft before he broke his foot early last spring. We're talking about a 6-8 guy whose arm works like silk and who can spin the ball. Trey Ball is good, but he's 6-4 1/2/175 with a rougher delivery and is a year + older at the same point. Comment From The JYD On that topic, what's up with Smoral now? David Rawnsley: Smoral has been in extended spring training but I picked up something on Baseball Prospectus I think that he's been throwing outstanding down in Dunedin. That could be a brilliant pick by the Blue Jays. Not the same position obviously but is Ryan Boldt this year's Smoral? Comment From James Any of you guys have a college player you like or think is particularly intriguing that *won't* go within the top few rounds? PGJerry: I'm sure we are talking about the later rounds if at all, but there is a catcher from Cedar Rapids Iowa (Kirkwood CC.) He is actually from Florida. He showed us easy top 5 round ability at the predraft. Dairo Gonzalez Comment From James David, which college player, not likely to be taken in the first 3 rounds do you think has a shot to be an above average major leaguer or even star? (Sleeper pick) David Rawnsley: Large field to pick from, James....not quite my area. But I'll throw 2 names out at you, John Simms at Rice (has been used very inconsistently in college and has suffered because of it) and Spencer Navin at Vanderbilt (defensive whiz who has really improved with the bat) as guys that get my attention right away.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Peterson, huh, that could be intriguing now that I think about it.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Everyone excited yet? Time to kick it up so we can be extra reactionary at pick 10.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Astros on the clock.......3 minutes
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Marisnick is cute but we have Neil "hermosura" Wagner fap fap fap please astros don't take appel.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 If the Rockies take Smith and the Marlins take Kaminsky, then we'll 99% have one of Appel, Gray, Stewart, Shipley, Meadows, Moran, or Frazier, right?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 If the Astros loved Appel enough to take him they'd have drafted him last year. Houston will take Gray. I think they just really liked Correa and the idea of extra cash for a McCullers type was more appealing than Appel to them. I don't think they don't love him or anything. That said, I do think they take Gray as well.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Yep. I think we'll definitely have a shot at an elite guy. Rockies could take Smith. Marlins could take Kaminsky. Royals could take Bickford. Pirates will probably take McGuire. s*** could get real. Won't matter, as I'm sure AA holds Ball and Crawford over all of them lol. But this is gonna be really f***in' interesting.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 If the Astros loved Appel enough to take him they'd have drafted him last year. Houston will take Gray. If the Astros take Appel, this year, what would be better? Correa + Appel or Appel + Bryant?
