Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 AA needs to make amends with the witch doctor who cursed our pitching staff.
Pete_7 Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Don't want to see anyone get hurt... feel bad for him

JFD Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 I still can't believe its June 2nd and Ramon Ortiz has started 4 games for this team. We're getting what we deserve. we deserve better
Pete_7 Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 If that's a serious elbow injury his career could be done. Awful stuff
jaysfaithful8 Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 That was hard to watch. Poor guy clearly cares a lot.
Pinkfloid Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 This is beginning to happen a lot more frequently than mere coincidence would seem to indicate. WTF is going on with the training staff??
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Would anyone know where to look up the number of injuries each team has had the past few years or so? This is seriously starting to piss me off
Sparky12 Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Sad to see, wish some of the other guys on this team had the passion this guy has
Wilnercibia Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 we deserve better Rogers thinks otherwise!
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 What happened to Ortiz? I can't see it on TV and gameday didn't post a video of it yet? Seriously, is this team cursed? It seems they have had more injuries over the past few years than the rest of the league combined.
Parson Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Seriously. This has to be more than just coincidence at this point. What the hell does the Jays staff do in their training that other teams don't?
Wilnercibia Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Does anyone feel angry when Ramon Ortiz looks like he is going to cry, he clearly cares about this team. Meanwhile you have JPA chewing his bubblegum and flaunting his Swag
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Seriously. This has to be more than just coincidence at this point. What the hell does the Jays staff do in their training that other teams don't? I agree. Weird things happen. Bad injuries happen. Having a few guys go down with serious injuries can happen. But the number of our pitchers who have gone down (3 TJS in one year) and guys coming back only to get injured again seems to be more than just bad luck. Maybe the training and medical staff should be replaced. Maybe they're missing something. I don't know. It just seems like a lot has happened in a short period of time. Reyes and Lawrie are understandable but when you have guys with TJS, long term strains it seems to be a bit much. Could just be on the outside of the Bell Curve and just horrible bad luck but maybe they should look into making a change with the training and medical staff especially down in the minors.
Jeffrey_Paul Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 We go through pitchers quicker than Gibbons goes through sunflower seeds. But seriously, as much as I wish we didn't have to resort to Ortiz as one of our starters, he certainly didn't deserve that. If it is indeed bad, that may well have been his last pitch. It was hard seeing the emotion on his face.

over500 Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Ramon Ortiz wouldn't even get a job in China League.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Author Posted June 3, 2013 Lincoln should be stretched out. I know they were thinking about it in Spring. Really what do we have to lose at this point. Unless we go outside the organization he has to be the guy. Agree, his numbers aren't great but he at least shows a nice breaking ball and can throw mid 90s. Wouldn't mind giving him a shot at this point.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 The farm system is completely barren with quality reinforcements. I mean June 2 and Ramon Ortiz is starting games for a team that went all in. Oh for f*** sakes.
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Could also be bad scouting or decision-making, regarding guys with poor deliveries. But I lean towards development, seems like the Jays have no real plan for keeping guys healthy and just resort to pitch counts. They need to come up with a strengthening program of some sort. The Rays have had three TJS in the past decade, as you said we have three every year. It sounds like something just isn't going right. Too many young guys getting hurt and staying hurt. They've also rushed guys up too early which doesn't help and have drafted some guys who looked promising but failed to get above A ball leaving the system a bit bare. That's going to happen. High draft picks can fail but it seems a lot in this organization. It seems like they're doing the same thing over and over and crossing their fingers.
