I think this franchise is over in Toronto too. I expect them to relocate to somewhere like Omaha in a couple of years following this epic disaster.

Nice troll job.

Well I didn't realize half my paragraph didn't write. Basically my idea was to move Bautista to third put Melky in RF and Edwin in LF. We can't keep Lind out of the lineup because Bautista got a sore back playing third. It was completely unrelated anyway. Runs will be tough to come by in San Diego.

Bautista himself said he hurt his back on a swing (or was it slide?), but not as a result of playing third. He's clearly still feeling it though (looked really sore today after sliding into third), so THAT might keep him from playing there right now.

Obviously the season is not over as one big run gets them back into the thick of things. That being said, this team just can't seem to put anything meaningful together for more than a couple games at a time and realistically they probably have no more than a 5% chance of reaching the playoffs at this point.

If they are not at .500 at least by the end of June then I think its fair to say the season will be over.

Yep that, as long as they are around .500 to start July it should be an interesting finish. They're in a huge hole no doubt about it but 100 games left is still a lot.

There's a full 4 months left to play. That's a lot of baseball, a lot of time for teams to fall apart, a lot of time to get better. The biggest problem is the rotation. We've been cycling through starters again and the only thing that's been consistent is the inconsistency. Our "Ace" is going to have to get out of the funk and got more than 5-6 without giving up as many runs. Morrow needs to do what he was doing last year (minus the injury) JJ and JA need to come back healthy and strong. Without a solid rotation, as we've seen lately, a winning streak of more than 2-3 games won't happen. This team will need to put together a bunch of wins in a row or at least win 3-4 before loosing one and picking it up again.

That said, this team needs to get to .500 first. Then start to get above and stay above, at least 10 games above before even thinking about competing. They have to do more than roll over when going against division rivals. Hopefully they'll start playing better and the other teams' weaknesses will come out. As it stands right now, it's still a bit early to tell but if they don't start bailing out some of the water they're taking on, the ship will sink before you know it.

The problem with this team over the past few years has been either the pitching or the hitting has come around but they haven't been able to sync it up for more than a little bit. The team getting healthy would be a nice start, including Marrow and RA if they're still going through their injuries as well.

As early as it still is, with fully two-thirds of the season to go....realistically, it probably is over. Especially if the starting pitching remains anywhere near this bad. But they have so many teams to jump for the wildcard and division, and the AL East schedule is so tough that, yeah, probably they're done.

You must be joking.

Is the season over?

I have finally stopped having any illusions of making the post season. I will no longer find ways to keep my hopes up.

This is a .500 team again.

It's very very disappointing. Dickey, Izturis, Lawrie, Arencibia, Morrow, Johnson have all been so unbelievably disappointing. This roster is just not good enough.

Here you go..this website shows what needs to be done from any given time to make the playoffs..I use this a lot for football when tracking my team.

According to this site..we have a .2% chance of playoffs and would need to go 69-39 the rest of the way to make it. While the hitting has come around the pitching just hasnt shown me anything to make me believe we can win at a 70% clip the rest of the way

I haven't given up yet (I still just love watching baseball)..but I think there are 28 games between today and the end of June. 18-10 run is needed. I don't think any less gives them much hope, and they would still be counting on all the other teams to slip quite a bit.

All that being said, I just don't see how a team with the starting pitching they have can manage to do it..we'll see.

By all-star break(if they get all the games in) 49-46 to have any chance (26-15 between now and then)

Yes it is over this team is not good enough, nor deep enough to go on the type of run needed, there 4 teams in the division are all over .500 as well. April cost us the season. The pitching is not good enough, third worst era in baseball.

there is no reason to think this will get better with the scrubs on this team. Way too many garbage players to get on a roll.

It's not like we're even getting bad ERA luck. Our FIPs and xFIPs suck too. Our FIP this year is WORSE THAN JO JO REYES' IN 2011.

Our pitching has just been horrifying.

It's so sad that after the winter AA had this is the f***ing team we have.

I say there's hope if we can get to .500 before the end of June and sort out our pitching. At least by then we'd have Johnson and Happ back, and Reyes in the lineup. After the ASG we have the trade deadline and we have Drabek and Hutch coming off the DL for some really good depth. AA needs to get depth arms from the deadline
