The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Here's a good read about what could happen to Gibbons if he were to be relieved as manager. http://www.thestar.com/sports/bluejays/2013/05/06/blue_jays_bullpen_john_gibbons_can_be_dispatched_without_firing.html I wouldn't mind seeing Gibbons put in a different role somewheres else in the org. And I would like to see Fasano moved into the position. Maybe that's why they made him a roving catching instructer this year... So that way when Gibbons didn't work out they could put Fasano in his place without messing around with the minor league manager spots. I feel Fasano would make a better manager and really fire up this club, he wouldn't take any s*** and he'd straighten out the players. http://jpopp.com/myfakeleg/articles/images/baseball04.jpg
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2013 Author Posted May 7, 2013 Like really, this guy even looks like a great manager. The pitchers would be so scared of this guy as he walks to the mound they'd have no choice but to pitch good. He looks like he could chew someones head off. http://www.nextlevelballplayer.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/5992086258_ffbd08805e_z-e1328214265712-360x500.jpg
admin Site Manager Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 The fact he wasn't even considered for the job tells me it wouldn't be him. I was hoping he was going to get the job in the first place.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2013 Author Posted May 7, 2013 Did they say he wasn't being considered or that he wasn't being interviewed?
admin Site Manager Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Did they say he wasn't being considered or that he wasn't being interviewed? I can't remember, but pretty certain he wasn't. Maybe to start, but I think in the end there were 3-4 names being mentioned that wasn't him. And I can't remember, but wasn't his position this year kinda downgraded, rather than upgraded, which made no sense?
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2013 Author Posted May 7, 2013 He started off managing Lansing. Then he managed New Hampshire where he was named Double-A Manager of the Year and they won the Eastern League championship. After that he was moved to "Roving Catching Instructor" in player development department, which does seem kinda like a downgrade but maybe they don't view it that way? Or maybe they want him working with the young catchers to try and make them better. Or maybe he's our manager in waiting...
declan_44 Verified Member Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I don't know about Fasano, they brought up our other 'star' coach from the minors in Mottola and he hasn't exactly worked out, maybe Fasano should also be onside red suspect. Hale also needs to be considered.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 not sure why people are discussing this. Gibbons has been making all the right moves with the team that he has to work with. it's all on the players now. the players need to take personal responsibility for their actions on the field and play smart.

While you are right, sports history disagrees. Coaches are easier to dump than multi- millionaires.

Coaches are easier to dump than multi- millionaires. none of the big names are leaving now. but some of the other guys could easily be moved. it's up to AA and what he thinks he is doing(not doing) AA might already be preparing to throw up the white flag in july. we dont know. at least AA seems to have stopped picking through the recycle bin.

Bisons are top of their league, no need for more claims, AA was just fulfilling promise to put a winner in Buffalo. Quick trade DeRosa while his value is the highest it has ever been...

GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I will continue to pump Hale's tires as a potential Gibby replacement.
