Ya the point of the game is to make a pick each day.. if not people could just go with edwin for the point of it at the start.. not come on the board for 3 weeks and be in first It's not that big of a loss if you miss a game. If you will miss the game, you can always pm me your picks as long as its after the previous game.

to be honest I haven't given much thought yet.. we can decide something tonight.

 

Few ideas was once and awhile pick a player from both teams but some people said they only want to celebrate jays home runs.. so we can do the +1/-1 if you think they hit first.

 

I was also thinking one game a week we can go a wager bonus day.. You can wage your points up to 5 on who you think will hit a home run that game, doesn't have to be just the first one, since that is too hard.. not sure if many people would want to wager though.. thoughts?

Yes that is how it would work, but like I said not many people would do it. Maybe if you can pick two players?

What about you pick normally and you can wager up to 3 points as a bonus.. optional so you don't have to. (the points for picking the right player is only for the first home run) the wager counts if he hits one at all during the game.

Wagers, +/- if you select which team hits the first home run.. what are some other ideas?

That should be a daily thing, and it might give some more/less points to get out of the huge clusterf*** in the middle

 

I was going to do it for one every few games.. too easy when were going to play a crappy pitcher vs one of our stronger pitchers. But I think having any bonus at least once every 3 games makes it more interesting.

What are you going to do about tiebreakers come playoffs?

 

I did give playoffs some thought, i'm going away with the head to head brackets.

 

Instead 4-5 weekly rounds of elimations.. start with 18, lose 4 each round with the least points at the end of each week. 1st and 2nd place get byes till the semis. If it is a tie for least amount, whoever has more points during season moves on.

 

Head to head is too hard, when you only have 6-7 games to get points. There would be too many ties.

One thing I was thinking of was, for your player you chose you could predict how many runs score in the home run. Say you predicted Eddie

EE 2RHR = Bonus Points

EE 3RHR = More Bonus Points

EE Grand Slam = more more bonus points

 

That's a good idea, also easy to calculate

You still get points if they get the home run, but you get bonus points if you predict how many runs

 

How about you don't even have to predcit how many runs it will be.. just overall have that bonus?

 

Bonus Points

* First home run only (2 run shot +1, 3 run shot, +2)

* 2 home runs in the game - +1 point / 3 home runs - 3 Points

* Grand slam at any time - 4 points

* Walk off home run - 5 Points

It's not too many points extra, but it's just enough. Hope that clusterf*** in the middle starts sorting itself out soon and everyone gets there own position

 

Still have two full months, but ya, at least it's starting to spread out more up top. This new bonus helps but still keeps points in moderation.

Are you going to get the home run derby in this somehow? That could be cool, but it won't be "first" home run. Maybe for the All star game You could put a lot of points up for the players in the game

 

Maybe someone else can host a different contest for the home run derby. predict the standings, and how many homers each player hits.

 

Pretty tough to implement it in this.. allstar game might work though.

Top 10 Players from week 1

 

Week 3

Top 6 Players from week 2

 

Week 4

Top 2 Players from week 3, 1^st-2^nd season place Byes

 

Week 5

Top 2 Players from week 4

 

*Ties go to the player with the most points during the regular season, point totals start at 0 each round

Also each jay player will have a different point value.. to keep points up.
