ace3113 Verified Member Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Stroman, Sanchez, Norris, and Nolin are making a sexy top 4 pitchers with Osuna still hanging around. After this draft we could be adding as many as two first round power pitchers as well (Toussaint, Holmes, Ortiz, Freeland, Finnegan, Cease, Hoffman, Beede, Bukauskas, etc).

I often wonder... with such a premium on pitching, if a team would be better off drafting nothing but pitchers with all their early picks..... it just seems that if you can achieve extreme starting pitching depth, you can trade one to fill 2 holes on the offensive side.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Boyd tonight: 6IP, 3H, 1ER, 3BB, 9K. Looks to me like he should be in AA. Arguably Norris too, but at least Boyd. They can then promote Graveman from Lansing to Dunedin, but who knows. The guy is 23, maybe he's another Sean Nolin. We'll see what happens.
Caper Verified Member Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Man... I was fapping to Emilio Guerrero. Look how lanky he is. IS there any decent body comp for this guy?

switchhitter Verified Member Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 We are all staying on the Brenden Kalfus train! Unlike like many Blue Jays fan who have a new favorite every couple of days, a bunch of us look at the numbers, the awards, the trend and the mental make-up. Most of the people here would have traded away Mickey Mantle after he struggled early in his career and almost left the game.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Yay banned finally. I reported his post. You're welcome.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 I reported his post. You're welcome. don't ever make me come to this thread again....
GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 don't ever make me come to this thread again.... Hey, this is a solid thread. It's the Kalfus one that was s***.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Most of the people here would have traded away Mickey Mantle after he struggled early in his career and almost left the game. For the record (just in case there is anyone actually listening to this guy) the Mick had a .790 OPS as a 19 year old, he was just built up to be greater than life, so the media did portray him as "struggling"...especially after hitting 9 HR's in spring. His struggles that made him call his Dad to say he'd be coming home (to a Dad who was dying) were in KC in early 1951 and he hit .361/.445/.650 in 166 PA's so I'm not sure how bad these struggles could have been.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Stroman KILLING it in Buffalo ERA 1.17 and striking out over 12 per 9 innings They can't keep him there forever. But they have 5 healthy starters plus Happ in the bigs.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Would love to watch this one...
Caper Verified Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Emilio Guerrero also continues to rake He actually got so hot... he physically caught on fire.
theblujay Verified Member Posted April 22, 2014 Author Posted April 22, 2014 I really like Dean and Nay
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 The touted pitching in Lansing has been a bust so far. It's early though.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Derrick Loveless is my guy. Continues to rake Mitch Nay with a double Tirado with an unimpressive start thus far Stroman dealing for Buffalo Stroman is ready for the show. Any time now.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Stroman is ready for the show. Any time now. Don't get your hopes up. There's no real reason to bring him up until at LEAST June. Avoid super 2 and hopefully we'll still be pitching well.

And I still think AA will put Happ in the rotation if someone goes down in May or June.

GoldBull Verified Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Dwight Smith Jr. has been killing it so far this year. What's the word on his defense? Does he project to be an above avg LF?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 His bat doesn't profile for a corner outfield, and he may be moved to 2B as soon as next season. Wasn't he going to be this year?
