Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Depending how many people are involved I might be in. Will give a firm answer by tomorrow. If not in, my first round waiver pick is available for the best MiLB pick I am offered

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Would be funny if FTD opted in and then got #1 pick again.
TRM Verified Member Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 holy f***, that would be a bit of a wrinkle He's just trying to get as many people in as possible, tempted by the possibility of Trout. At the last minute he'll pullout, and let the chaos unfold.

GoldBull Verified Member Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 I will be actively shopping my high dispersal picks. Looking for high-end prospects coupled with young MLB pitching. Since there is a tight turnaround between the opt-in cutoff and the start of the draft, I will have to negotiate prior to knowing which picks I have. Open to discussing conditional deals that would be contingent on obtaining a certain pick and / or a certain guy being available. Some really nice names that may be available, including: Machado Giancarlo Rizzo Rendon Bellinger and more!!

TRM Verified Member Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 Re-building teams should pluck away, lol I guess that's a good question for Laika. If we (the dispersal draft participants) can trade for these players, when can we do so? And I don't see a solution to this, but I guess that puts as at a bit of a disadvantage, unable to trade for valuable potential cuts while other teams not participating in the dispersal draft can. Not trying to complain, obviously this is unprecedented and challenging. Just wondering if we can put our heads together for a viable solution? A freeze on trades from now until the end of the dispersal draft? Might be a bit much.

And yes, you can deal with outside participants, as can they for picks, it'll be fun.
TRM Verified Member Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 Oh I agree, I can't wait. I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying though. It's possible (likely) this is just an inconvenience of the dispersal draft and there's nothing we can do about it, but this is what I'm thinking... Let's say I really liked someone who was on the proposed cuts list. Say, Daniel Norris. Unfortunately I can't trade for Norris right now, as I currently have no assets to trade. It's possible between now and then, someone who does like Norris (perhaps you) scoops him up before I even have a fair shake at offering something for him. It's obviously not a huge issue, but if someone was planning on going all in on the prospects during the dispersal draft, these fringe keeper lottery tickets would be the kind of guys they may be interested in picking up.

Good point... as I've noticed no one dares trade cuts and waits.

There shouldn't be a freeze on trades. Or maybe one until the start of the dispersal draft? You(and other participants) would be able to trade late round dispersal picks(ex Round 31) at the beginning of the draft for all the Norrises you want.

Two day freeze on all league trades, just until the dispersal draft actually starts. Then the teams in the draft will have assets to deal for whoever they want. And So It Is Decided.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 I've got the assets from the committed teams on a new spreadsheet tab ('Dispersal Drafts') and will add as others commit. I might get around to sorting the lists by Yahoo rankings.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 got all the assets on the sheet and have them half-ass listed in terms of Yahoo rankings just for utility. This is not really a critical item, but I didn't get much feedback on the league trophy (Just Spanky and TCA). I wouldn't mind knowing before I (Mrs. z3r0s) time into modifying the file. Is this something people really care about? Will guys actually fold/glue these up if we sent them a file. Just don't want to waste time for nothing if nobody really cares.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 I'll fold and glue it, and then give it a tour of the city.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 I don't want to s*** on the idea but I really don't have any interest in printing and folding a trophy while mailing around just the base. I'd be interested in an actual trophy, though.

My concern about a real trophy isn't the initial cost, but the maintenance cost of shipping this thing around the country. Shipping stuff isn't cheap and it would have to be packaged pretty decently to avoid damage. It really shouldn't be a big deal if everybody is down to having some yearly costs... but its something to be considered. Not going to lie, I sort of like the idea of a repeat champion having several trophies from his past wins. Either way, up to the group.

A pattern that we could print out, transfer to cardboard, and spray paint or something could be kinda cool.
