The lack of enthusiasm for this league gives me the sads. I just love it so much. The waiver wire activity is pretty much exactly like the Major League waiver. It's been years since I found fantasy baseball this interesting and stimulating.

That's exactly why I don't like it. Having to pore over inconsequential players and being bound by a bunch of annoying rules about when you can and can't add them is extremely tedious to me, and the UI is atrocious.

I'll trade you my #LOD team for your DDL team! We both double up on the leagues we love :P

Yeah, I always give up on my teams if I don't do well too. It's good to be in about six leagues, and then just focus on the one where I'm doing well, and dismiss all the other ones as uninteresting.

Or in my case, focus on the 4 other leagues where I'm dominating and Brock Holt isn't a must-play.

The BBDL owners all seem to be into it, I don't think this is a systemic issue. I like LOD's real-world parallels too.

I love both leagues.

The DDL has a really great group of managers, most importantly. But it also has a nearly perfect cutoff point for players and prospects, where you can field a full team without rostering any pieces of garbage and the top of the free agent list is still semi-interesting.

The LOD is like a sim league. You guys are being too hard on Fantrax. It's benefits vs. Yahoo vastly outweigh its burdens. I can get past outdated UI in a second if the website is going to give all of the information and capabilities that Fantrax offers. Yahoo's UI f***ing sucks too. It's tailored for 12 team league newbs who use it on tablets and mobile devices... not great for a deep 20 team dynasty league full of spreadsheeters.

The thing about LOD is it mimics real life baseball. If the Jays need a second baseman, they can't just expect some unowned guy to step in and immediately deliver results.

Which means, you have to make trades. So yeah, if you expect to just get guys for free instead of negotiating and making deals, it's a terrible league.

I will admit the interface sucks.

It is what it is, leagues come and go. Some people prefer different formats. To imply that it relates to team performance in Week 2 is asinine, however.

There's just more attachment to players you've been with for awhile, or traded for. LoD will kick up I'm sure. Personally I'm loving it so far.

Yeah, I think this is it. I like the LOD, and have no intention of giving my team up or anything, but I have a lot more invested in the DDL, so I care a lot more.

It mimics real life baseball but in in a slightly skewed way. If I have a MLB ready-ish player, I can't just force his real life team to call him up and play him because I have an immediate need but on the other hand, I do have the luxury of an empty spot which MLB teams do not. Identifying marginal players who could produce at the league replacement level is a challenge that some will embrace and some will opt more often than not for the empty spot. Desire and interest in deeper scouting as well as aversion to risk will dictate a lot of strategy and make the league either more interesting or more boring for different types of owners.

There should be a lot of trade and waiver activity but a lot of it will be of the type that would draw snickers from sarcastic types in a 20 teamer.

I'll post this here because it's very interesting.

Kiley McDaniel stated today that there are rumours Brady Aiken's injury issues are worse than the "clean TJS" which only dropped guys like Hoffman, Giolito, and Fedde into the mid first round. He said the rumours point to something that could be potentially career threatening, or more mildly just an increased injury risk going forward (structural abnormality?).

Toronto picks 29th. I wonder...

Wow, Maddon batting Bryant cleanup is his debut. Respect.

Maddon probably has projected wOBA on his lineup cards, and knows what it means.

Gibby, on the other hand, is the type of guy who doesn't pinch hit for Goins with one out left in a game and him representing the tying run.

I was screaming at my tv until I realized that the only available bat was Tolleson and a righty was pitching. The bigger mistake might have been starting Reyes when he was obviously hurt.

Navarro would have been on the bench if Gibby hadn't pinch hit him for Smoak. I like Gibby, but yesterday was awful.

Valencia too.

Valencia and Tolleson vs a normal RHP are both probably > Goins.

Not to mention, Boxberger is a changeup pitcher so his splits are probably reverse. He's (maybe) basically a LHP.

Like BTS said too, there was absolutely no reason to pinch hit Navarro for Smoak. A bunch of s***** decisions in a close game.

This guy is generally regarded as a fantasy baseball "guru".

Time to trade me Bryant before his value plummets (err JaysFever)

I traded for Rob Deer in 1986...I'd like to say that I learn from my mistakes but I'm still pretty stupid so I'd take Bryant if the deal stays small enough

I realllllly can't get into LOD at all. Probably going to hand over the keys to someone else next year unless I get more into it.

I haven't been all that satisfied with the LOD so far. Just tough getting into. Also, it doesn't help that the Fantrax site layout is awful. Its annoying to use and I'm not a huge fan of the league settings/format. Just haven't had as much fun with this league as I anticipated. It is still early however, so I'll give it a chance. Though I'm more attached to my teams in the FC and DDL, more than the LOD thus far.

I think I would have preferred a 7x7. Managing a 9x9 is a bit overwhelming, and I don't care at all about DICE, RC, or wOBA.
Posted

wOBA is cool, puts more emphasize on obtaining players who are actually good at baseball.

I really hate DICE though. Sure it stabilizes over the course of the year, but week to week it seems so extreme.

Posted
I figured those that like to treat fantasy leagues like a video game and trade every week would dislike the LOD. It's just not going to be easy to make moves without catching someone at a moment of stupidity. By the time I'm done school next year I'll be ready to take over some impatient child's team.

Remember when you offered Taveres+ for Bryant a year back. I'd be in tears right now
