Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 No, I'm generally cordial and sometimes sarcastically mean. Boxy is the one who scares everyone off with his blunt arrogance and stubby fingers. I didn't say you were a bigger ******* than me

BTS Community Moderator Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Strongly considering putting SG #1 in my PRs. I'll probably vote for him too.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Let's fight? But you're my favourite poster
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Actually if we go back to the old forum and quote mine for Fangraphs.com sheep guys who ended up eating massive crow I think you need to cite me in your bibliography.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Khris Davis for Bradley Zimmer? I don't really see the appeal with Zimmer and Davis is still fairly young. Hmm.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I think Zimmer is going to be very similar to Yelich.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I think Zimmer is going to be very similar to Yelich. ********. If you really thought that, you wouldn't have done this deal.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 KingKat must really like Zimmer. With CatsAss' full farm and high picks, he didn't have much of a use for Zimmer and picks up an interesting young power hitter. Credit to him.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 ********. If you really thought that, you wouldn't have done this deal. I also feel Davis is going to be good. If he can bring his OBP back up. It's trading future for now. Compare Zimmer's and Yelich's stats in A-Ball.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 KingKat is easily the owner in this league who's moves/valuations I least understand. Not saying he's right or wrong, I just don't understand a lot of what he does.

Probably has a decent amount to do with his decision making

Laika Community Moderator Posted January 29, 2015 Author Posted January 29, 2015 Probably could have gotten 2 Bradley Zimmers for Davis if he was shopped league wide. Was he made publicly available and I missed it?
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 There's a guy who deals a bunch of his assets for picks that evaporate... Gibbers has a pretty predictable MO though. I still have no idea what KK is going to think of a given player.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Anyone looking for a closer? I'm looking to move Jonathan Papelbon. He's my #20B guy. He's 34, but he'll collect you saves and he puts up good peripherals. Easy profit maker, value will jump right after the waiver draft.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Still have some veteran BP arms that I could move: - Casey Janssen (just signed with the Nats) - Rafael Soriano (possibly the Jays closer?) Can easily make a profit with these guys if they find their way into a 9th inning role.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I guess what it comes down to is that I don't care about market value that much. I used think my problem was that I didn't understand it but now I'm realizing that I'm perfectly willing to pull the trigger on a deal that won't get me market value if it gets me the players I want and I'll always opt for a below market deal that I like over a deal that looks good on paper but doesn't feature a player I'm really interested in. When no on in the deal is elite anyways, it doesn't seem worth it to waste a lot of time haggling or negotiating with other owners. I've had a few times where public negotiations have worked for me but sometimes I'll put someone on the block very publicly (say Urias for instance) and it's mostly crickets.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I also feel Davis is going to be good. If he can bring his OBP back up. It's trading future for now. Compare Zimmer's and Yelich's stats in A-Ball. You mean in 40% of the PA's and 2 full years older A ball stats? With that said I like Zimmer, he has good wheels, makes contact and the power is coming along better than what was anticipated. If that continues this year they might be less concerned about putting him in a corner OF (I don't think Cleveland is the type that would typecast a guy anyway)
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 Does anyone remember how exactly Daniel Norris went from Spanky to Boxy? The transaction history on him

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Does anyone remember how exactly Daniel Norris went from Spanky to Boxy? The transaction history on him Norris went to silvergun at some point
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Does anyone remember how exactly Daniel Norris went from Spanky to Boxy? The transaction history on him With Silvergun, it was the Lewis for Chen trade IIRC, I can't remember the details, he needed Norris to make another deal, he still owes me one for that.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 With Silvergun, it was the Lewis for Chen trade IIRC, I can't remember the details, he needed Norris to make another deal, he still owes me one for that. You traded Norris for Wei-Yin Chen?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 You traded Norris for Wei-Yin Chen? Plus, plus...
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 At one point in time, Spanky owned both Julio Urias and Daniel Norris, the 1st and 3rd best LHP prospects in baseball right now (mlb.com). He picked Norris 118th overall in the initial draft (I think), and he picked Urias 22nd overall in the 2013 June draft. He traded Urias in 2014 in a 3 team deal that landed him Aaron Sanchez (KK got Urias and a high pick, TCA got Cliff Lee). He also traded Norris in 2014, to Silvergun for Wei Yin Chen and pick #41 (gross). Silvergun traded Norris + his 1st for Odorrizi (rape for Boxy). Boxy traded Norris and Rusney to me for Ryu. I just traded Norris to Kat for Urias. That's the story of how Spanky practically lit two elite LHP prospects on fire, and then they eventually got swapped for each other.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Anything good? Pick and another spect, I can't remember to care honestly. I than moved Chen for something with Dinger, you'd have to ask them guys. We should have a trade history link. I think North has one.

Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
