Laika Community Moderator Posted October 12, 2014 Author Posted October 12, 2014 This is the big leagues of fantasy baseball so if you make a bad trade, people are allowed to roast you for it.... but, we need to cut the disagreements off more quickly in the future. There is nothing productive about fostering animosity within our league ranks like this. You guys have been going shot for shot for a couple of days now. Would be nice for something to just be the bigger man and not reply anymore. Not that I really care.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 I didn't trash talk. I offered my opinion of a publicly viewable transaction . Holy f***. And I gave my response. Deal with it
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 but, we need to cut the disagreements off more quickly in the future. No we don't. You guys have been going shot for shot for a couple of days now. Would be nice for something to just be the bigger man and not reply anymore. Nope. People wanna crack to me about s***, everyone's fair game now.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 And I gave my response. Deal with it You accused me of trash talking when I wasn't. I expressed amazement at your inability to distinguish trash talking from fact based opinion. You initiate trash talking despite a continued policy of not doing it, then told me to deal with it. You're a weird one, man.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Don't comment on my trades either. Why not? I'm free to do so. Aren't you always against the suppression of free speech or is that only when it applies to you?
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 IMO I gave a better offer for Myers, but all prospect evaluations are extremely subjective so I'm not surprised.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Thought you didn't talk s***? Because there's no way that's actually accurate. Why don't we take a poll to see who's team people would rather own right now? I'd take his team over yours easily. At least he several young talented assets on his MLB roster instead of just Matt Harvey and Oscar Taveras.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Well... that's probably not true, and he'd be your best pitcher. I'd take Shelby Miller, Martin Perez, a healthy Chacin and Griffin over Shoemaker.
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 I'd take Shelby Miller, Martin Perez, a healthy Chacin and Griffin over Shoemaker. Eww, I wouldn't consider trading him for any of those guys.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 12, 2014 Author Posted October 12, 2014 I'd probably take Miller over Shoemaker, but definitely not the others. Well, I guess Griffin in Oakland is pretty close.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Well that might explain why you're like 90 games under 0.500 in two years. I've seen a lot worse teams managed in dynasty over six years, and thats from regular and active posters on this board. Not going to name names, though I wouldn't be worried on how Gibbers operates his team especially only after two years.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 I'd probably take Miller over Shoemaker, but definitely not the others. Well, I guess Griffin in Oakland is pretty close. I agree. Where's North and his PD stats when you need him?
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 I'd probably take Miller over Shoemaker, but definitely not the others. Well, I guess Griffin in Oakland is pretty close. Yeah a healthy Griffin definitely. I'd be on the fence with Chacin, though his 2013 season was solid - 4.4 WAR and he's only 26 still. If he's healthy, I've always liked his arm.
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 I'd probably take Miller over Shoemaker, but definitely not the others. Well, I guess Griffin in Oakland is pretty close. IMO Miller vs. Shoemaker depends on where your team is in the standings. As a team that wants to win next year, I'll take Shoemaker who I see as being more bankable. If I'm rebuilding, I probably dream on Miller's potential. Maybe.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Eww, I wouldn't consider trading him for any of those guys. To each's own. Miller and Perez for sure - they are younger, have higher upside and have had success at a younger age at the big league level. Griffin, if healthy in Oakland is a solid starter, and Chacin is just a year removed from a 4.4 WAR season in Colorado. Considering that all those guys are younger, have higher upside, and have had more success than Shoemaker, I think I'd take any of those 4 over him.

I'd still take Miller over Shoemaker even if I'm contending.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 12, 2014 Author Posted October 12, 2014 What's not to love about a low K guy in Colorado? This is an fWAR league, isn't it?
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 I'd still take Miller over Shoemaker even if I'm contending. I've really gotten away from taking inferior players just because they're younger. Miller has good stuff, but he was replacement-level in our league this year while Shoemaker threw 136 innings with more than 5 K/BB (+ a great playoff start).
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Lolllllllllll @ Chacin over Shoemaker. FWIW, I think jaysblue is just sticking up for his buddy. He's generally pretty good at this.

I'm not sticking up for anybody. I'm just expressing my opinions. Shoemaker came out of nowhere this season as a 28-year-old and I'm not sure he'll continue with that success moving forward. Chacin has had several successful years in the bigs already, and is two years younger. Depends on your strategy and personal preferences. If I'm competing, I'd probably roll the dice on Shoemaker since he's coming off a better season and pitches on a better team. If Chacin is healthy, I've always liked his arm.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 IMO I gave a better offer for Myers, but all prospect evaluations are extremely subjective so I'm not surprised. Crawford's a real nice prospect. Castellanos on the other hand....good bat, but if he moves off 3B due to his putrid defence the value takes a hit.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Lolllllllllll @ Chacin over Shoemaker. Before the 2014 season, I'm sure everyone in this league would have taken Chacin over Shoemaker. I'm saying if healthy, Chacin has a good live arm and could possibly be a better asset moving forward.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Seems like it. Why are you even talking?

Has Chacin ever even had a season that would rank him as a top-300 player in our settings? I have a hard time wrapping my head around him being anything but a guy you stream on a Sunday.

Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
